CLASS PRCPH ECY As I settle down in my comfortable seat I can't help but notice how modern and compact my surroundings are, for I am riding in one of the most up-to-date passenger jets. I am rather tense and nervous as this is my first trip. I'm on my way to the reunion banquet of my graduating class, and I have braced myself for many surprises. As we descend from the plane I look around at the most beautiful and modern airport I've ever seen. My! How Ida, now a city, has changed. As I walk past the flight announcer's desk, I hastily glance at her and much to my surprise it is none other than JOANNE HENRY a graduate of the senior class of '54. We chatter awhile and I start for a hotel. But rather than walk I decide to take a cab. The name on the side of the car reads Walkie Talkie Cab Service, owner and operator DARLENE RODENBECK. I ask her where the best hotel is, she tells me that the most popular is the Sundown Hotel, the proprietor being LESTER FRANK. A As I unpack, I turn the radio on. A feminine voice comes forth announcing this is Miss Hard Crust of Station P.I.E. whom I learn later is none other than DONNA BOERBOOM. Finally all my bags are unpacked and feeling quite fam- ished, I decide to look for a place to eat. After inquiring from several people I head for Walter's Ice Cream Parlor. The owner turns out to be DARLENE WALTERS, a graduate from Ida, class of '54. That night I received an invitation from EUGENE HINKEL- MAN, now president of the Bluestreak Automobile Corp., to go dancing at Club '54. We were seated at our table when a very familiar looking gentleman came up. When introduced he turned out to be DALE DENTEL, band leader for the club. We talked awhile and the conversation switched to the latest news. It seems that the notorious Club I.0.U. had been raided. The owner,TED BENNER, and his bouncer, JOHN TRAPP, along with the patrons had been jailed. Just then the club's cigarette girl walked by and much to my surprise I recognized her as SHIRLEY WOBSER. Mr. Hinkelman points out a few of my former classmates. JOHN GENSLER, Ida's town mayor, is here. And seated at the far end of the room is HELEN KRAFTCHICK, the town prosecutor. The next morning I decide to browse around town. Many things and places have been added to this prosperous city. There is the new high school of which MARJORIE CORL is now first woman principal. And MYRNA RIFFLE is head of the Com- mercial Department. Also I see a very beautiful Civic Aud- itorium, the owner being RUTH HAMAN. The largest funeral parlor has been established under the direction of MARILYN BROWNELL and her assistant is JUDY GEE. As I pass the news-stand I stop to buy a paper. The head- lines give an account of the most recent exploit of the Rocket to the moon-SALLY EIPPERLE is the captain. Also, the

CLASS HISTORY CLASS MOTTO HWith the ropes of the past, we ring the bells of the future.n CLASS COLORS Blue and Yellow CLASS FLOWER Rose The Senior Class of '54 started the year off under the leadership of Prudy Romine, president: John Gensler, vice- president, Marjorie Corl, secretary: Shirley Wobser, treas- urer. The first project to increase class funds was a booth at the Ida Homecoming. This proved very eventful and a boost to the class treasury. Next in line came the picking of tomatoes at the Stibor Farm. It was fun, but oh, the aching backs! Then came the long awaited day, October 8. They climbed aboard a school bus and were off to Brockley Studio in Adrian where they were to have their pictures taken. Surprise, no broken cameras. The next big event was the class play, UThe Skeleton Walksn. which was given on Dec- ember 6-7 under the direction of W.J. Cunningham, class advisor. Then with graduation only one-half a semester away they took on the sponsoring of the Civic Club Dinners. They are very thankful for the untiring service of Mrs. Malosh through all the dinners. They also sold refreshments at the home basketball games. The selling of greeting cards then became a main feature during the month of February. The arrival of announcements and name cards added to the whirl, and everyone became aware that graduation was only three months away. Then it was time for a social whirl for they were honored by the junior class on May 8, at the Junior- Senior Banquet. The long awaited occasion was now upon them. on May 23 they held their baccalaureate service and on May 28 the diplomas for which they had waited so long were given out. After those two momentous occasions, a majority of the members will be leaving from Toledo on May 30, on a four day class trip to Washington, D.C. So long, Seniors. Good luck in your jobs, college, and your home..For out of all of us you deserve the best.

progress of the nitrogen bomb being analyzed in the Ida R-Bomm lab by chemist ELLEN DUTY is coming along fine. Ida High seems to be doing well in sports this year.Their new football coach is GORDON WERTENBERGER. There is an article on food planning written by JUNE BAIR, the head dietician in Ida Memorial Hospital. The election news states that KEN HECK has been made Mayor of the Ida Bowery. As I continue my stroll, I notice the top billing at the theater, the noted author and politician being JOYCE KLIEM. Also, the very famous Professor of Science, NANCY DIETZEL, shares the billing. The lectures will run for two nights. And across the street is the new dog clinic, ROSE MARIE MALOSH attending physician. While attempting to cross the street, I was quite star- tled to see a line of horses walking down main street. When I inquired about this strange procedure, I found that they belonged to CAROL KNAPP, owner of the I Bar Ranch: PRUDY ROMINE being the head foreman. While sitting in the hotel lounge, LOUISE PIOTEREK, who is now the secretary of the City Public School, sits down to talk for awhile. I mention to her some of the amazing chang- es that have come about. And with much proudness she relates some things I missed.
