“
The Legend 1975 Edited by the Senior Class Of Ichabod Crane Central School Valatie New York Volume XXI ro be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else—means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting. e.e. cummings “To be nobody-but-yourself...” is one of the most dif- ficult challenges that we will ever be forced to meet. Rea- lization of this fact is just the beginning of the long drive ahead of us. Each day of our future will be marked by the need that exists among all of us: the need to remain true to ourselves and loyal to our own ideals. Although we have changed from the carefree, innocent youths on the playground to the individuals we are today, we must per- sist to be our “own” selves. Dedication It was during our junior year that many of us first became acquainted with you. We found you to be a warm, open person with whom we could easily talk and laugh. Al- though your class was required, you managed to make it a joy, not a chore. We consider our- selves truly fortunate to have had you both as a teacher and as a friend. It is for these rea- sons that we, the Class of 1975, would like to say thank you by dedicating our yearbook to you, Mrs. Evelyn Nepo. In Appreciation Years from now, when we reminisce about our high school years, we will re- member you as a dedicated teacher who was willing to accept us as individuals. Although you may not have always agreed with our opinions and ideas, you al- ways listened and remained open-minded. In this manner, you gained both our friendship and our respect. So, rather than waiting until our years of reminis- cence, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to you now, Mr. Jerry Wolff. The American Students are friendly and the people are kind. I enjoy the beautiful sights such as snow, green plants and wide fields. To me, this is one of the best places in the world. I will miss being here when I go back to Japan and I’ll never forget this part of my life.” This year Ichabod Crane opened its doors to an exchange student from Japan, Toru Tanabe. His presence was immediately felt and wel- comed, particularly by those juniors and seniors who came to know him in their various classes. For those who didn’t have the opportunity to meet Toru in the classroom, they soon heard of his expertise on the soccer field. The senior class considers it a great honor to have had the oppor- tunity to welcome Toru both as a fellow student and a friend.
