Ah, indeed! it is rightfully used in connection with the members of our f ea f f- class, Sophomores, the sound of the name alone, could they be other than great men. Let us see- This illustrious class had its beginning in the fall of 1926, when Iacger High opened its doors for us. There were fourteen of us promoted from the eighth grade but thanks to the District Schools we came thirty-six. Our fame was created with our class. Why, you wonder since we were supposed to be Green Freshmen. We were the largest number of this type, laeger High has ever produced. The customs of Freshmen being seen and not heard was set aside in our case. We had six members on the football team, four subs on the' basket-ball team and more praise to us, we had Zella, who won the .debating contest of the county at Welch. - Furthermore, we had three former school teachers, Gladys, Zella and Lawson, who with the addition of the three Meyers girls enabled us to crown our year with the highest average in grades of all the classes. Green Freshmen! . September, 1927. History continues because the great are still making those shadows. N 0 exception to the rule we'd have had a smaller number if it had not been for those District Schools. They sent us some more good students and we began with thirty-six once more. Being very wise welre ever improving our Freshmen record. We had seven on the football team, but not for long. Lawson deserted us to become an in- structor hirnself. Yes, he is capable all right. We have the two light guards 9 of the Girls' Basket-ball team, Thelma and Hazel. Then there are Jeff and William keeping up the record for the boys. We had two members so wise even that the Juniors applied for them and WH won. Bye-Bye to Zella and Gladys. But then we have left Grace and Ed. Who, A A we ask you, could Charleston like Grace or be as funny as Edd? 1 3 We have lost a few members of our class to business, and we know not what 3, but wherever they are, we wish them the best of luck. l Our ambition at present is to continue the year as we have started and to V begin next year with that Lucky Thirty-Six.
