Griffin 3445444 e44 In preparing the '67 Panther, the graduating journalism class at Terrell has made an attempt to retain the valuable features of the previous editions and yet give both the book and its contents a new looki The book contains a carefully refined and improved presentation of the basic campus life. The Panther Staff is indebted to numerous businessmen, teachers, and students who have contributed to the improvement of this book. We especially appreciate the new journalism teacher Mrs. Earlene Parks, for her hard and industrious Work. - Turn the pages with us as We present the enjoyable days of our lives for Life is an Open Book. l f ,-, .....4.-..-,.g......L...., .... It is a pictorial guide full of mystery and intrigue, fantasy and romance, horror and deceit. . .a record of our lives. Therefore it is most fitting that we 'should choose this theme for the l967 Panther for it serves as a record of our lives during this past year. In it we have tried to capture, in pictures, all the memorable events which have helped to make this year a most exciting and important one in our lives. With this book, a chapter in our life ends, it is the sincere hope of the journa- lism class that this book, as well as the books of our lives will forever serve as a source of pleasure and memory to all generations. faq Z, guna Associate Editor O A ,A an,......i ,L Scuwbzcz facyce Wempiflll Y Pwbw This is the year that flew past before we knew it began and held for many something like unto that first taste of honey. This is the year we have tried to capture in words and pictures and we hope that each word and picture has locked in it some- thing which will cause it to spring to life so that you may relive some of those wonderful, golden, and treasured moments that were once yours, but now belong to time. With every passing day, there come hardships that befall all the soldiers on this field of combat. However, as the soldier has a chance to rest, he takes into hand a book to read. As he reads, a vision of life appears in his mind and in the center of it stands Mrs. PatsylRansom, Mr. Charles Watts, and Mrs. Earlene Parks, who are known for their work in the field of education as a friend to all students. It is in that hour that all the soldiers seem to join in the picture and say It is with deepest appre- ciation and gratitude that we extend to you our love, our hope, our all. ---Johnny Renardo Anderson Quinny Panda ffvvfwddn M- I MA, -4. Dedemzam When the time of the year rolls around for another Journ- alism Class to dedicate the annual to a special someone, it ff' is a time of seriousness. Everyone must think earnestly about an endeared friend and person who has inspired some- one to go further in life to success. The Journalism Class of '67 has taken every step in select- ing just the right person to dedicate the annual to this year. The dedicatee for the 1967 Panther Annual is Mrs. Reba Maddox Hands. Finding words appropriate elwugh to describe such a per- son as Mrs. R.M. Hands is almost impossible. Mrs. Hands, Iam sure, is not only loved by the journalism class but by the students, the school administra- tors, and faculty members. Mrs. Hands, your former English students in journalism would like to say Thanks for everything ! ---Sandra L. We believe that every child should be an acceptable as well as a contributing member of society. ' Our objectives are: to develop habits of good citizenship through an understanding of democratic principles and through application of these principles, to provide each individual with knowledge, skills, and atti- tudes that make for worthy home membership, to give every pupil func- tional knowledge of the fundamentals, so that he may be able to solve problems arising in everyday life, to develop sound mental and physical health, to discover innate abilities, interests, and need, to guide and direct pupils to those subjects which will enable them by their own ca- pacities to prepare for the vocation from which they will derive the most good and through which they can give the most effective and effi- cient serviceg to develop within the individual intelligent self-control, to develop in the individual a sense of responsibility for his actions and a respect for the spiritual values of life. y Outcome: We hope that there will be a definite evidence that pupils have developed, by the time they finish high school, desirable skills, habits, knowledge, understandings, abilities, and appreciations to the extent that they will be able to make intelligent Life Adjustments in our American Way of Life. ll l l 1 ,U A x X V9 1 9 5 xg. l W xyx f f ff L v . , 1 4 , - -.,., - ll fm QM? Terrell's senior i class of 1967 took its major step in the climb toward scholastic success, Each of us, although from various schools, was eager to greet our new environments with open minds and high ideals. While many of us acquired recognition in sports like David Payne, Clarence Howard, and John Moore, there were others of us who didtequally as well by the academic standards. Some of these were Carolyn Shepherd, Wlalter Peoples, Yvonne Morris, and Donald Patterson all of whom were also arfew of the first inductees into our chapter of the National Honor Society. Of cgourse there were those of us who excelled in both. Nevertheless, we are proud to observe that most of us, who in their sophomore year began their climb, have continued to recognize and uphold their positions and obligations to their I. M. Terrell. Our eleventh grade year was not only beneficial, but one of the most important ones that we will have. It was then that we saw our- selves reflected in the eyes of the senior class of that year. We saw their mis- takes and therefore avoided making so many of our own. We saw their eager anticipation and we were therefore all the more determined to bask in our own glory. Now we have reached that crucial point of life, the first step being one of independence. However, we are prepared to accept this step and others . We have begun our climb, we will not falter until we have reached our peak, and we will for you see, we are still the same Terrellites with open minds and high ideals. CYNTHIA E. As each page is written, the landmarks of the past are one by one recorded. In these few pages we have endeavored to compile another chapter in your life. We sincerely hope that this journal has brought and will bring to you all the experiences, the joys and the memories of days past spent.
