af L S ga, Sbecbcafion Rarely in a lifetime is one privileged to know an individual who possesses a driving ambition, an awareness of self, of others, of inevitable progress, a sense of dignity, a thirst for knowledge, and a selfless nature. Yet two generations ,of Terrell High students have worked and studied with one so rare, Mrs. Hazel Harvey Peace With a firm hand and wise counseling, she molds the lives of.. hundreds of students every year , and for eight hours each day con- cerns herself with the individual welfare of every pupil. Though she may not realize it, she inspires many of her temporary charges to aspire to the limit of their potential. She does not reach each student with her perennial message of achievement, but those whom she does affect remain eternally grateful for having known, even briefly, Mrs. Peace. Because of her profound interest in young students and her undying faith in the worth of a sometimes-wayward, often-impul- sive generation, the 1965 Panther staff dedicates this yearbook to Mrs. Peace. And with this dedication travels the hope that the corridors of I. M. Terrell will long echo her firm guidance and profound Wisdom . THE 1965 PANTHER STAFF

James Ireland Cash, Jr. - President of the Student Council will CLIll'l0f go Z?acL What I have written, I have written. These words of Omar Khayyam should reflect the spirit of each of us as we face the in- evitable end of another school year. There are some things we would like to blot out, some incidents that occurred during the past year of which we are ashamed. But regrets of the past have no position in the ambitions for the future. Though we cannot relive the past, there is something we can do to right the wrongs of yesterday. This something lies in our future. Here, and here alone can we neutralize misdeeds of the past. We can neither erase unfortunate events completely, nor can we alter them. There- fore, we must: Seek forgiveness for the cutting word spoken, Acknowledge the wrongs we have done, Restore the fellowships we have broken, but most important, Learn from the errors of the past And make the coming years the best we have ever had. It requires no courage or stamina to give up in the face of failure But the true test of the strength of an individual is his ability to press forward, undaunted by discouragement, and to achieve his goals. Yesterday is gone, its deeds are irretrievable. But tomorrow looms on the horizon as a promise of success and achievement for the de- termined youth.
