Carol 'Eleanor Brooks - Editor li A Look Into The Past. . . With The Future In Mind jkenfle It is true that one can never really recapture the faith, the hope, the joy, the curiosity, the zest, the it's-great-to -be-alive feeling of the past, yet one can never truly anticipate the pleasures and ordeals of the future. Tomorrow, though certain to come, is yet wrapped in a shroud of mystery beyond the speculations of mortal beings. All, then, that are implicitly ours are the shining reminiscences, the golden recollections, the sometimes-vague memories of yesterday. And yet, when we think on it, is yesterday really so removed from the all-consuming now, the ever-awaiting tomorrow? In today's world, it is too easy to forget the accomplishments of the past, too easy to ignore the wisdom and strength w'e have gained simply by having been alive yesterday. It is this utter simplicity of forgetfulness which inspires the 1965 Panther staff to reiterate the year's accomplishments with the hope that they will indeed become building blocks of the future. Yesterday can only teach, offer hope, and inspire us to reach toward tomorrow with open minds, willing hearts, and burning ambitions. The future can fulfill the dreams and realize the ambitions of this maturing generation. And so, stealing a final sentimental glance at yesterday, we embark upon tomorrow with Mary Gardiner Brainard's words in mind: I see not a step before me as ltread on another year, But I've left the Past in God's keeping--the Future His mercy shall clear, And what looks dark in the distance, may brighten as I draw near.

Terrell, will also act as a stimulus to every Terrellite to seek success as he journeys along the various pathways in life. Within these pages lie remnants of some of the most important and enjoyable days of our lives, which provide for the public, tangible evidence of a profitable and worthwhile year of education--a year which will con- tribute to our happiness or sorrow, our success or failure, in the years to come. Thus we have attempted to project a Look into the Past , hoping that you will constantly keep the Future in Mind .

Bren ja Edmon I 0AglfLe Many years from now, each of us will have occasion to leaf through the dusty, yellowed pages of the 1965 Panther and to smile a bit as we recall the significance of each picture. Our faces will glow as we turn these pages, remembering old friends, old teachers, old classes, and especially old class mates. We will chuckle as we notice the youthful faces and physiques, and we may blush at the recollection of our adolescent attitudes. This book holds many memories, some happy, others sad. But, never- theless, not one could ever be forgotten. All of them will be stored forever in our hearts to be pondered occasionally as time goes by. The 1965 Panther staff adds this volume of glowing reminiscences to the mounting collection of Terrell High memoirs with the hope that, as the years go by, the memories will grow sweeter and become more indelibly fixed in our hearts .
