THE TIES ARE BROKEN . . . Mr. Richard E. Moore The former jounalism supervisor Mr. Richard E. Moore has left our faculty, but the job of train- ing the young minds of the staff workers has been left to cap- able hands belonging to Miss Bertha Mae Norman. She is affiliated with the English depart- ment here at our school. Be cause she is so lively and versatile, we hope that she will continue to guide us in journalistic fields. Through tire years, I. C. Norcom High School has witnessed tire rise of many great men -- men who have worked whole-heartedly to better their community, and themselves. But, perhaps the most memorable of these individuals is Mr. Richard E. Moore, a former Spanish and journalism teacher here. It is his warm, gentle smile, his deeply integrated interest in the welfare of his students and his diligent effort to provide the stu- dents widi a firmly rooted interest and enthusiasm in their studies for which he will be most remembered. A man of innumerable experiences, he tends to leave with us a radiance which illuminates our pathway in school. The name of Richard E. Moore will linger forever in our hearts when- ever a student writes his Big Story. Miss Bertha M. Norman

r r r r A teacher builded a temple; She wrought with skill and care; -- Forming each pillar with patience, Laying each stone with prayer, None saw the unceasing effort; None knew the marvelous plan; For the temple the teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man The sweetest flow ' r that grows I give you as we part . You think it but a rose! You have distinguished yourself as a great teacher in your chosen field of mathe- matics. It all began in the Portsmouth Public School, fondly known as Pepsi Cola Col- lege” in 1919. For thirty-six years, you served as chairman of the Mathematics Department and for forty -four years Secretary-Treasurer of I.C. Norcom. FOR YOUR LOYALTY, YOUR DEDICATION, YOUR DEVOTION TO DUTY AND your inspiring ex- ample to all of us, we proudly dedicate this annual to you. 7
