foreword I Although the ten year history of the new I. C. Norcom High School is relatively short, the events constituting it are of such a momentous nature that these ten years, 1953- 1963, are an epoch in the history of mankind. The rate of inventions and activities of this decade is almost umbelievable . A con- ventional age of guns has suddenly whirled into a nuclear age of inter -continental ballistic missies, atomic powered submarines, and neutron bombs. Sputnik, astronaut, cosmonaut, anti-anti aircraft have entered into the modern vo- cabulary. A new President, Governor, Congress are elected. The old order changeth yielding place to new ... Everything is changing except change itself! These events also spell out a meaning for the Norcom High School graduate. This meaningful decade composing the new school ' s entire history in which the world has made a complete turnabout has thrust him vis-a-vis with a completely new world of expansion -- expansion that has been felt in the school itself when the new annex was completed in 1962 and when there was an increase in faculty, student body, and grad- uating classes. New fields and goals are opening everyday forcing the graduate to become the challengee instead of challenger. This is the history. These are the facts. Here is the world. Will the future surpass this significant decade in the history of the new I. C. Norcom High School?
