Class Song QTUNE- Lullaby l Fare thee well, Norcom High, It's time to say Good--bye We will miss you every day, You have helped us on our way. We give thanks to our friends, With this rite, school days end. Faith enshrined in our hearts, Sadness, too, as we part. II. Teachers, friends, parents, too Have all seen us through. Our task, just begun, For our high school days are done. God's world of toil and strife Is the road that leads to life. To obey, we're compelled, So dear Norcom,-farewell. QWRITTEN BY LITA JOHNSON, Class Poem KBY ALICE BAKER, We bid farewell to you, O Norcom High, 'Tis time for us to say a sad Good-bye Our heavy hearts deplore that luckless scene. Our minds disturbed, our feeling still serene. The love we-have for you can't be explained, It seeps its roots into your vast domain. 'Tis you who judge how wide our limits be, O Norcom High. The school so dear to me. II. How often have we blessed this coming day. Our debt to you in deeds we gladly pay. The simple blessings from 'your lowly heart Shall live with us long after we depart. Eternal knowledge blossoms from your help As we retrace our learning, step by step. But if our voices break, we'll gladly sigh Oh, how we love you, I. C. Norcom High. III. To you, our hearts, our love, our griefs are given. The thought of you will rest with us in heaven. Contented are our minds, our hearts are yearnin For you who taught us everything in learning, The deep prophetic fullness of your strength. 8 Praise be ye, Norcomv are our words at length, But now it seems we have to say Good-bye Dear Alma Mater,-I. C. Norcom High.

History of the Class of '48 On the first day of February in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-four, we, the graduating Seniors, crossed the threshold of I. C. Norcom High School. Very much aware of the difficulties to be faced, we came in with a proud, shy admiration of the things about us. We can still hear the roar of Mr. Waters' voice- You go to Mrs. Moultrieis room,-you go to Mr. McGriff,-you go with Mr. Cuffey, and you go to Mrs. Chapman's roomf' There were four classes of Fresh- men then, but because of failures and other handicaps, we are but two classes in our senior year. We have labored hard to do the right things and to keep high the standards of I. C. Norcom, and to do nothing to bring shame to our Alma Mater. In all activi- ties, our classes have come out victorious. Mrs. Moultrie was one of our home teachers for three years, but in our fourth year she left us for a while. Her class was turned over to Mrs. Knight, who, with Mrs. R. P. Chapman, sponsors our class. Both have been like mothers to us, guiding their children, proud as we were when some one of us performed an outstanding feat, ready to lend a hand when we were in distress, and watchful to see that no one should take an unfair advantage of us. Next to Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Knight, our English teacher, Mrs. M. S. Vick has done most to influence our lives. With her teaching on the every day concep- tions of life, she has brightened our outlook upon the future and broadened our thoughts in a world-wise sense. So, now we are again passing through the portals of Norcom-on our way out into the future,-into the unknown, but not shy and skeptical. We go out brave and certain, because we know, in general, what we will find, and what to expect.
