Glas 'llafzmf September, l9h7 twenty pirates boarded the Treasure Ship, 'H.H.S.W signed up for four years and we were on our way. we were placed in cabin 'El. Chosen as officers for our first cruise were President,Ioran Cunningham, Vice President, Willis Rexford, Secretary-Treasurer, Sylvia Robison, and our sponsor, Mr. Henry Duerr. Soon after we set out to sea, the Pirates from cabin 'SO made us walk the plank. Raymond Kline and Tom Watson jumped overboard. we struck back at the return party. On our first cruise we were very timid so all we did that year was raffle a toaster, put on two plays, 'Leave it to Joe,W and WElmer and the lovebug,N directed by Mrs. Griswold. we also sold lunch at the trackmeet. Sylvia Robison was elected as cheer- leader that first year. A few of us were in band, others in basketball, football or track. we started our second cruise minus Loran Cunningham, Ted Roth, Tom Watson, and Raymond Kline, but added Colleen Riding, Ralph Fisher, and Patty Guerkink. Chosen to lead us through that year were: President, Walter Campbell, Vice President, Ellen VanLuvanee, Secretary, Frances Chavez, Treasurer, Bob Criswell, Sponsor, Mrs. Rella Johnson. we initiated the Pirates from cabin '52, and really made them NToe the Mark.' we pirates, during our second year, got bolder so we put on a play, nGirl Shy,W directed by Miss Smith. we proved to the other Pi- rates that we could act. On our third cruise with H.H.S. we signed up four more pirates, Ronnie Manning, Carol Shoemaker, Roy Fletcher and Leona Swanson. Chosen to steer us along were: President, Donald Rexford, Secretary, Sylvia Robison, Vice President, Einar Johnson, Treasurer, Carol Shoemaker,spon- sor, Miss Smith. On our third cruise we sponsored the three social events of the year. The Thanksgiving dance, Valentine dance, and the Junior Senior prom and banquet. While we were passing the sea of matrimony, Roy Fletcher and Lupe Rosales fell overboard. Carol Shoemaker was chosen cheerleader that year. Einar Johnson and Donald Rexford were chosen toattend Boys'State. Frances Chavez was chosen to attend Girls' State. In 1950 and 1951 we are on our last cruise. We have to guide us this year, President, Leona Swanson, Vice President, Ronnie Manning, Secretary, Sylvia Robison, Treasurer, Willis Rexford. The Student Coun- cil Representatives, Bob Criswell and Einar Johnson, Sponsor, Mr. Eggen. Colleen Riding has left us to sail on another ship, none have join- ed us. This year we are publishing, 'The Pilot,U our high school paper. Welter Campbell is editing WThe Pilot,W and 'The Pirate,' our school annual. Ronnie manning and Carol Shoemaker reigned as Homecoming king and queen of 1950-1951. The basketball and football teams were composed mostly of Pirates fr m cabin 'Sl. With Bob Criswell and Bill Willems as co-captains our football team made an excellent showing. Bill Willems, Bob Criswell, Walter Campbell, Einar Johnson, Ronnie Manning represented cabin '5'l in basketball. we have completed our four years on the ship H.H.S. we are finish- ing our cruise with seventeen pirates. As we sail on into the sea of life, we hope our shipmate contacts will not become too far and few be- tween. Our cruise has been a pleasant one and the acquaintances made will never be forgotten. So hats off mates and WShip Ahoyn ll!! 8
