1 . . XX xxx Down Memory Lane With the opening of the new Primary building we bid farewell to the time-worn friends pictured above, They had been the scholastic homes of many of the parents and grandparents of our school children today. The old high school, pictured on the left, dates back to the middle 1870's while the primary building, right above, dates back to 1916. Previous to these times classes were held atop I-logback in a one room building erected in 1865, and in a two room school built in 1872 on the site that is now Mr. Harvey Zeigler's Funeral Home. The first school in Londonderry Township was built just below Fossilville in 1813. Names of School Directors such as Deaner, Fischer, Noel, Goodwin, O'Roke, Kramer, Sproul, Tempke, and Henschke, all deceased, bring back tense but respectful thoughts of teaching conditions before Teacher Tenure. The creaky and crowded stage where Iunior and Senior Class Plays were held before packed houses of 125 bench-and-desk sitting, proud parents , when a S65. 00 gate was tops in the late 20's and early 30's. The 8x7 foot Principal's office where Mr. Keller reigned supreme from 1935, the large maple trees on an unpaved playground, where a trackmeet was held, are now casualities of progress. Principals Keller, Howe, Swaunger, Beatty, Wolfe, Maclay, Miller, Schriver, Price, Coughenour, Luman, LeFevre, MacGregor, and Hyndman's first Principal, Cristman, all of whom administered to small graduating classes - fl-Iorace Beck, lone graduate of the 1906 class and Randall Shaffer, the only graduate from the 1925 class and the first from the 4 year high schooll. Crowded conditions actually didn't seem crowded - but - then, crowding 45 members of the band into the 8x14 foot band room, that was once the Chemistry Laboratory and later the football dressing room, came awfully close to crowded conditions. The memories of the good-old-days of a once booming Hyndman, its many nearby brickyards and hotels. To me and to you who were there this section of Schellsburg Street will always hold nostalgic memories of things that used to be.

i n V l Coach Harry cliinley Whose teams brought County Championships to Hyndman High both in Baseball and Basketball for the season l957-'58. The feat being remarkable, in that, with Class C teams was able to vanquish Class A and B schools throughout the county. Quietly accomplishing this double chore with little fanfare we proudly dedicate this Annual to one who deserves more than was tendered him.
