C ,naw Class History of 1955-56 When we started our first year of high school we entered the new school building . We were very proud that we were the first Freshman Class in the new jointure. Our of- ficers from the 50 members of our class were: President, Nils Johannesenp Vice-Presi- dent, George Dennlsong Secretary, Ronnie Stahlmanp and Treasurer, Irene Shaffer. Our activities were of the usual variety consisting of ONE'wiencr roast, skating parties , and a bake sale. These activities were sponsored by Mrs. Kipp and Mr. Porter. To our re- gret we lost several students in this year. They were Edith Emerick, Junior Leydig, Har- old Monnett, Raymond Shaffer, and Lorraine Martz. We also gained some new ones: Richard Minnick, James Harden, and Frank Kisner. Our Sophomore Class consisted of 48 members of which the officers were: Presi- dent, George Dennison, Secretary, Alice Shaffer, Treasurer, Irene Shaffer. Our activi- ties this year consisted of skating parties, bake sales, and Wiener roasts, Our trip to Gettysburg was canceled. Our sponsors for this year were Miss White and Mr. Stewart. This year our biggest loss of classmates occurred as follows: Richard Close, Max Kelly, George Severs, Donald Harden, Donald Merkel, David Thompson, Robert Willison, Donna Bridges, Florence Hare, James Harden, and Frank Kisner once again. We gained no new students until almost the end of the year when on the scene appeared LaVerne Imler. In our Junior Year our class was much smaller with only 38 members . Our officers for this year were: President, George Dennison, Vice-President, Ronnie Stahlmanp Secre- tary, Alice Shaffer, Treasurer, Irene Shaffer. Our sponsors were Mrs. Clark and Mr. Miller. The activities stayed pretty much the same with bake sales , skating parties and Weiner roasts predominating. We also held a Junior supper and soup sale . We sold can- dy and cookies at Christmas time and our Class Play There go the Grooms was well re- ceived. We purchased our class rings this year which were the envy of the school. Alice Dwire left our midst in this year, however, we gained two more students: Naomi Deneen and Ronald Scritchfield. Our Senior Year is to be our saddest, not because we are graduating into a new life, but because we mu st say good-by to our many friends and teachers. We didn't have much time for self pity because we were kept hopping with the yearbook, the Hornet, skating parties, our successful Class Play Crazy but Cute , the planning of the New York trip, the handing out of name cards and pictures to our friends and preparing for the big day--COMMENCEMENT. The class officers were: President, George Dennison, Vice-President, Paul Martzg Secretary, Alice Shaffer and Treasurer, Irene Shaffer, with our sponsors Mr. McVicker and Mr. Bertram. We gained a new student at the beginning of this year, Nancy Witt . It is difficult to say good-by and it seems so formal to do so, so we will just ,say So long for awhile as we hope to meet and greet our friends again. If not in the near future, the cherishing of the many memories we collected will have to suffice. LaVerne Imler Class Historian M24 I V 'v ,,.i - ,. ..
