Class History of 1954-55 During our years together in Hyndman High School, we, the graduating class of 1955, have shared our joys as well as our sorrows. We've gained new classmates and to our regret have lost old classmates and friends. Our Freshman Class of 1951-52 consisted of fifty-eight members. Our officers were: Judy Bowers, presidentg Patsy Diehl, vice-president, Sandy Thompson, secretary, and Jerry Emerick, treasurer. The activities were a hayride, ice cream parties, wiener roasts, and a Christmas party in which we decorated our room. Our activities were supervised by Mr. Beich- ler who left for the army and then replaced by Mrs. Kipp. Out of our Freshman class we lost Carolyn Thomas and James Rexrode. We had a new student, Betty Franks, to enter our class. The Sophomore Class of 1952-53 started off with fifty-three members. Our class officers were: Terry Rizer, president, Fred Willison, vice-president, Janice Shaffer, secretary, Ray Martz, treasurer. This year we had two sponsors, Miss White who had the commercial students in her home room and Mr. Wilt who had the general and academic students in his home room. Our activities consisted of Wiener roasts, ice cream parties, bake sales, and a Christmas party in which we decorated both home rooms. This was our first year in the new high school. We gained Delores Mallow, James Dewire, Melvin Boore, Charolotte Parks, and James Harden. The classmates to leave us were: Glenn Taylor, Effie Thomas, Charolotte Parks, Wayne Hyre, Sara Shirey, Jean Martz, Arthur Brant, George Severe, Donald Merkel, and Albert Larson. We started our Junior Class of 1953-54 with forty-five students. Our sponsors and home room teachers were Mrs. Clark and Mr. Miller. The class officers were: Terry Rizer, presi- dent, Billie Shroyer, vice-presidentg Shirley Stair, secretary, and Jane Holler, treasurer. There were skating parties, bake sales, a Christmas party in which we decorated both rooms, and our biggest accomplishment, the Junior-Senior Prom. This year we gained one new student, Melvin Miller. The classmates who left us were Phyllis Spiker, Carroll Wilson, Harold Sher- man, Naomi Browning, Richard Minnick, Frank Kisner, Bob Troutman, James Dewire, and James Harden. Our Senior Class of 1954-55 consisted of forty-one members. Mr. McVicker was our class advisor and home room teacher. The officers were: Billie Shroyer, presidentg Judy Bowers, vice-presidentg Shirley Stair, secretary, and Jane Holler, treasurer. We had bake sales, skating parties, ice cream parties, and our Senior class play. But our biggest project

was our yearbook, the Hornet, which was an improvement over last year's and required hard work to accomplish. All of these activities through our high school years are toward our goal-- our New York trip at the end of our Senior year. This year we have neither gained nor lost classmates. If the remaining forty-one students all graduate, it will be the largest graduating class in Hyndman Hi gh School. So we bid farewell to all our friends and look to the future with high hopes. 39
