After the decisions were made and the converts were dealt with, Mr. McKinney would organize the slips and hand them to Dr. Hyles who would then read them and recognize -the decisions that were made. Un- doubtedly, these few moments that close the services each Sunday morn- ing and evening will be forever etched in the minds of all who at- tended our “A” church. Activities — 157

om FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH As we reflect back on our time at First Baptist Church, the most memo- rable thing that comes to our minds is the invitation. As the massive crowd bowed in prayer, Dr. Hyles would ask for those who wanted to make a deci- sion to raise their hand. After this, there would be an inevitable stream to- ward the aisles where scores and some- times hundreds of people would gather towards the front of the auditorium to be greeted by personal workers like Mr. Nischik, Dr. Jorgensen, and the pasto- ral staff. 156 — Activities

mm FTRST BAPTIST CHURCH Although the majority of the students are involved in the bus ministry, there are many other ministries of First Baptist Church in which college students assist. These include the Spanish minis- try, headed by Mr. Elmer Fernan- dez; the deaf ministry, headed by Miss Maxine Jeffries; the sailor and “F” Sunday school ministries, headed by Mr. Larry Bullard; and the teen ministry, headed by Mr. Eddie Lapina.
