FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH: The sign that says First Baptist Church is symbolic for Hyles-Anderson students. The church is of paramount importance in the life of the Hyles-Anderson student. The college, despite its size and reputa- tion, is merely one of the integral parts of the First Baptist Church ministry. Seen on this page, the major portions of a day in the life of First Baptist Church are clearly evident. From the special music to Dr. Hyles’ preaching and on to the inevitable blessings of baptism, the ministry of the New Testament church is echoed in this great ministry. Activities — 155

MISSIONS Hyles-Anderson College has main- tained an emphasis on missions through the years. The Missions Club is directed by Dr. Maurice Paulson, a vet- eran missionary of several mission fields. The Missions Club meets each month for a time of prayer and a special challenge. Our Missions Emphasis Week this year featured Missionary speakers Dr. Mel Rutter and Dr. Tom- my Ashcraft. om FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH As we reflect back on our time at First Baptist Church, the most memo- rable thing that comes to our minds is the invitation. As the massive crowd bowed in prayer, Dr. Hyles would ask for those who wanted to make a deci- sion to raise their hand. After this, there would be an inevitable stream to- ward the aisles where scores and some- times hundreds of people would gather towards the front of the auditorium to be greeted by personal workers like Mr. Nischik, Dr. Jorgensen, and the pasto- ral staff. 156 — Activities
