“cc MEN’S DORMITORY Dorm life is a privilege, and that privilege brings responsibility and accountability.” Toby Weaver, Dean of Men jenuey yomny) sajAH ; Sat IGG I GE OC IE SUOLLLIDS JO AAI puP uoneiedaig au) UC) |: 1S 260m SHITTRES LONNIE The men’s dormitories are more of a stop-over place than those of the girls. Because of hectic work sched- ules, involvement in ministries, and even the occasional demand for studying, the dorm rooms became a place where the bare necessities of life, such as sleeping and prepara- tion, took place. The rooms differed as much as the men who were in them, but much like the girls’ dorms, these rooms will long retain images and memories of college years gone by. Top left: Craig Arnold sits in a dorm room that has a classier appearance than some. Center left: Kevin Courtney readies his shoes for an important date. Above: Albert Lopez wonders to himself, “Where’s Mom when I need her?” Bottom left: As seems to be the case with many students at Hyles-An- derson, the library collections show a strong sprinkling of books by Dr. Hyles and Dr. Rice. LADIES’ DORMITORY “The dorms are a refuge where walls absorb laughter, beds absorb tears, and ceilings absorb prayers.” Marlene Evans, Dean of Women - a 71 f i | a i] Top left: Kim Weaver takes time for personal devotions, while making sure that the yearbook photographer saw her new engagement ring. Top right: A room that had been brick walls, a bed, and dresser is transformed by the cre- ativity of its inhabitants. Above: Lisa Glassburn uses her room for more aca- demic pursuits. Bottom right: Kristy DiChiacchio works at the almost impos- sible task of bringing order to the disor- derly. Ladies’ dormitories are places for studying, sleeping, preparing, and in general, living while at Hyles-Anderson Col- lege. The various sized rooms take on an atmosphere that is unique with each set of inhabi- tants. It is the dorm room that will long be remembered after each girl has gone to where the Lord leads her. 146 — Activities

The Fishermen’s Club is a ministry directed by Dr. George Godfrey. Dr. Godfrey for years has been “Mr. Soul Winner” at Hyles-Anderson College. The Fishermen’s Club meeting, which meets each Saturday morning, begins with a breakfast and then is trans- formed into a teaching time where tech- 148 — Activities ISHERMEN’S CLUB niques and testimonies alike are shared. The scores of men who gather each week unite together in singing and prayer before going out across the Calu- met region to reach folks with the Gos- pel of Christ. One of the great attributes of the Fishermen’s Club is the strong emphasis on follow-up. The Fisher- men’s Club is responsible for many adults not only being led to the Lord but being brought to church, following the Lord in believer’s baptism, and ulti- mately, hopefully becoming soul win- ners themselves.
