The Senior Class is honored in dedicating the year- book to Mrss Margaret M Hmchey mstructor of mathemattc For many years the students of Hyde Park Hlgh School have found Mrss Hrnahey a source of msprratton ID therr quest for knowledge Mtss Hmchey recelved her early educatlon IH the Waltham schools and at Notre Dame Academy Rox bury She recerved her bachelors degree from Emmanuel College and contrnued her studles espe ctally rn hrgher mathematrcs at M I T Boston Col lege Harvard Umversrty and Boston Unrversxty where she recerved the degree of Master of Arts Before com1ng to Hyde Park Mrss Hrnchey taught at Dorchester Htgh School for G1rls the Frank V Thomp son School and the Solomon Lewenberg School I thrs school she has always taught math and geometry She has assrsted the students ln many of the extra currtcular actrvrtres especrally on the Class Day pro grams Mxss H1nchey has always demanded hrgh standards not only rn our class work but also rn our personal and soclal conduct We are sure that we w1Il remem ber wrth affectron and respect the teacher who urged us to l1ve up to the ab1l1ty w1th1n us and who made us d1ssat1sf1ed wrth our efforts when they d1d not represent our best We wrsh for Mrss hmchey a cont1nuat1on of her success for many years to come IIVN ,fb MR IOHN M KILROY MISS MARGARET M HINCHEY The Semor Class IS mdeed honored tn dedxcatmg the yearbook to Mr Iohn M Kzlroy Boys Physxcal Educa tlon Director and Head Coach of Hyde Park Htgh Mr Kllroys youth was spent ln Roxbury where he attended the Dudley Grammar School Then he went on to the Hlgh School of Commerce Dean Academy Boston College and Boston College Graduate School He was a guard on the Boston College football team that became the 1928 Eastern Champlons He was the Physxcal Educatxon Director at the Boys Club of Boston He not only played professtonal football but has wrestled professronally all over the world He helped tnaugurate the Clty of Boston Park Department recrea txon program In 1940 Mr Kllroy came to Hyde Park Hlgh School but he soon left to enI1st ln the Unxted States Arr Force Upon entermg the SQYVICS he was sent to Orlentatlon and lntelhgence Schools He saw actlve duty ln the Pac1f1c War Theatre and ln 1946 he returned wlth the permanent rank of captam Smce then hlS marvelous agtllty and personallty have left a lastmg mark on all the graduates of Hyde Park Hrgh School He has led Hyde Park to vtctory ln four mdoor and three outdoor tracks champlonshrps Our baseball team has won the cxty champtonshlp Many of the Uoys he coached on the football team have been suc essful IH college ln their studles and 1n sports We pupxls wtsh to thank Kewpte Kxlroy for the wonderful lastrng pmpressron he has made on us l'ruIy we can say You have helped to make us men' , ' I .
