Q I l r ' 8 ' A L' -un - A- X xafifff ., Vfgifi V O ' ' - f .A.,1.x-.. afar? 0 lffe Cvfmu 0 f 55 Thtnk back Senrors to that happy September rn 1952 when we passed the mlestone rnto Sentor hrgh What a dtfference from lun1or hrgh a brgger butldtng and a few more people' What freedom' No more stngle f1l ng or srlent passtng tn the corrrdors' Twas then we started our three years at Hyde Park H gh three of the happrest years of our lrves After the hustle and bustle of the frrst few days of school the renewal of old frtendshtps the makmg of new ones the sudden shock of a greatly rncreased amount of homework we soon settled down to the famrl ar routme wh ch was to be ours for the next three years We w1ll never forget the actrvttres of that flrst Up whrch was under the drrectron of Mrss Srntth and Mrss Halbrttter the football and basketball dance the electron of our sophomore offtcers Armand Kazarran Mrlton Bronsdon lanet Sulltvan and Amela Nessar and of course the annual Sentor Revue We wll always remember the srghs and screams that went through the aud1tor1um over our two srngtng rdols Paul Harney and Ierry Devrne 195253 brought us three D1str1ct Champ on shrps rn basketball hockey and track Sunburned and healthy we returned the next fall as 1ub1lant tumors lookmg forward hope fully to an eventful year We elected Armand Kazarran Rae McLean Margaret Brown and Ruth Srlva as our class offtcers Our yunror year 1953 54 was a good year for sports as our hockey team aga1n came forth undefeated w1th the Drstrxct Champronshlp and went on to battle for the State Champronshrp only to be defeated as they went down ftghtmg agamst Belmont lt was only rrght that after that vrctory w should have a dance rn honor of our heroes of the tce Our 1un1or year also holds some unpleasant memortes Mr Wtlltam H Dugan left to undertake a oos1t1on as head of the Commerc al Department at Iama ca Plarn Htgh School and Mrss Halbrrtter retrred from teach 1ng At last came our long awarted sen1or year perhaps the most actrve of all three We as Senxors tr1ed somethrng not attempted before at Hyde Park Hrgh We held a Sophomore Soc al for the purpose of acqua nt ng the Sophomores w1th thetr upperclassmates and the Senrors ID turn w1th the Sophomores That dance berng such a success we held a Chr st mas Dance rn the gym whrch was gayly deco rated for the occaston Thts year was unusual 1n that we elected all grrl offlcers Ruth Srlva Ehzabeth Troy Margaret Boone and Rae McLean Hyde Park Hrgh was represented on Bob Claytons Record Poll th1s year by Ianet Sull van Armand Kazar an Sally larello and Ianet Trask ln Ianuary the Sen ors spon ored a Mld Wrnter Prom at New England Mutual Hall whrch was attended by some of the par ents and teachers The dance was enyoyed by everyone Our annual Sen or Revue under the d1rect1on of Mr Iohn I Buckley was a great success as usual ln May we had our eventful Class Day exercrses rn whtch the Class Wrll Prophecy and Poem were read We looked forward to the prom and gradua t1on w1th mmgled feelmgs of 1oy and regret Ioy that we had reached our goal and regret because we were breakrng away from the assoclatrons of our school hfe When we were . f 5 . i . . .
