Kilroy Assistant Coach .. . . . . . . . . .. . . . Iohn I. Buckley There wasn't much to cheer about during last fall's football campaign. lnjuries and hard luck robbed the team of any real chance it had to capture the District crown. Highlights of an otherwise drab season were the rugged defense against B.C. High in the jamboree game, the well deserved wins against Tech and Roslindale, and the thrilling contest with Memorial High that might have resulted in a victory for us with a little luck. ln the backfield Varario and Stracgualursi did well until injured. ln the later games Bob Palmer took over as the ground gainer for the Blue Stars. Bob Turner at quarter did a fine job of directing the club and throwing passes but the old debbil injuries put him on the shelf just when we needed him most. Mister Football in the coaches' opinion was Vinny leannetti, a boy who never misses a practice, a block, or an assignment. His steady, heads-up playing kept the boys in contention right up to the last whistle. Gther good backs were Greeley, Shamon, Pizura, Carey, Fares, Baker, Gasgarro, and lerry O'Brien who filled in nicely at quarterback. Standing out in the line were Hank Billings, loe Babbitt, Gene Spinello, Bill Gagnon, Dick Guardabascio, and Red O'Brien. The latter was one of the foremost centers in the city. He never made a bad pass: his tackling was powerful, his leadership was Scores magnificent. Hyde Park B.C.
