Sargent Shriver, Ir., President oi the Board of Educationg Dr. Milton I. Cohler, Principal, Mrs. Emanuel Sta- vish, President OI the PTA. PRlNCIPAL'S MESSAGE Dr. Milton I, Cohler ln this centennial year of the founding of public secondary education in Chicago, we feel proud that our school has been in the forefront of this parade of educational progress for eighty-seven of these hundred years. lt is no accident that a leading public high school and a great laboratory high school have both found fertile ground in the Hyde Park community. A long list of progressive community and educational leaders have given inspiration and strength to each other in building a community and schools which have faced their problems with confidence and intelligence. The many distinguished Americans who have been educated at Hyde Park High School bear witness to the success of their efforts. Our graduates whom We proudly feature in this Aitchpe, and the many who will follow them in succeeding years, will surely add strength and brilliance to this distin- guished record of community service and achievement. Thus our community will renew itself with the new leaders that the come munity and its high school have helped to build-and with these it will meet the new challenges that face every period of history. Mr. George Triezenberg, Assistant Principal Mr. Triezenbergs known by all The Hyde Park students, large and smallg He helps them with the teen-age fight, The battle of knowing wrong from right. And closely associated with this line man, ls Our Miss Brooks who helps us plan, Our college days and future years, And disbands all doubts and many fears. So, many thanks to each ot you For helping us see our school days through. For being both a guide and friend, Our rnem'ries of you will never end. HYDE PARK Einstein and his numbers Could never quite compare With H. P's great Math. Honor, This fact we think is rare. A book should soon be written Oi the brilliant minds of these Phenomenal mathematicians, Who think with the greatest ease. They think of many numbers And quick as you can wink, They come up with the answers Without any time to think. They could release emotion, But,-enough psychology. They have a different meaning To the students and the teams, They stand for spirit, sportsmanship, And friendship-so it seems. The students are important In sports here at Hyde Park, By cheering on the team they love- They play a lasting part. So, really in all sports events It's very plain to see, That both the students and the team Are a necessity. M, rx, it 5? TTS Wytgliiiad FORE! The crowd is still and tense with tear, The men ot the team are grim, For they aim to beat the opponents- This is no passing whim. Excitement grows as we near the ninth frame And the noise is far from mild, But then as Hyde Park gets a strike, The crowd goes almost wild. H 'Ss 5' .Bn GOLF Mr. Ziembap Weiss, HJ Weiss, B.
