Because we live in a machine age, we can spealc of a community as a machine, a machine in which each person is a cog. Only when there is full co- operation can the gears mesh to operate the machine efficiently. This community co-operation is the basis for the, democratic ideals which we so cherish. Our school is our community. We are the cogs which determine how smoothly it will run. Our community is our school. It supplies the lubricants of lcnowledge and recreation that lceep the machine in good worlcing condition. We have chosen this relationship of school to community, and community to school, as the theme for the 1950 Aitchpe. We have tried to show our theme through drawings, photographs and copy. The section cartoons exaggeratedly depict the actions of a typical student in our school community. The maps on the inside cover show the activities offered in our district, as well as the grade schools. ln our dedication, too, we are carrying out the community theme, for we have chosen the Parent-Teachers Association.
