C9-lL9I'l'l'Q Music-the most beautiful of all sounds-is that force which, loved by most men, accompanies all men throughout their lives. It is the lullaby, the wedding march, and taps. Music has many meanings for many men. It is a power great enough to surmount all barriers of intel- lect or culture, so that it may reach all men. It has a different meaning for each man, dictated by his emotions, personality, and imagination. lt comforts the sad, and plays with the gay. It calls up visions of the impossible for the dreamer, of the possible for the fighter. There is one great type of music which is inaudible, but is, nevertheless, strong, rhythmic, and vibrant. That is the music of youth. Since it mirrors youth- impetuous, daring, yet somehow protected from harm- this music varies. And it is this music which we are trying to depict in the AITCHPE 1947. The many faces are the instruments. They play the strong music of the intellectual pursuits, the rhythmic music of the sports, and the vibrant music of the many activities. Then there is the gay music of the prom, the sometimes- sad music of marking-day, the clear music of the stu- dent leaders, and the timid music of the freshies. All of these strains taken together shall be the theme of the AITCHPE 1947.
