HDHRHEHFQMEJIES EIGHTY years ago a red brick building was mlde the stag upon wh1ch Hyde Park High School has built 1tS unrn aled foundation This Civil War Period structure the present Hyde Park Branch was the pride of the community people wondered at the 1mpress1veness of its architecture the abllnty of IES stu dents and the standard of 1tS scholarship Our forefathers who lned at this time strived to further the development of the learning upon which we now base our knowledge A new edlfice protects the students of this year nineteen hundred thirty three and places them on the first step toward the gate of success This success will term1nate only when they mg For to be successful themselves irrespeetne of the fate of posterity IS to insult and to disappoint those people of years ago who worked that they may live in an advanced world The Staff of the Altchpe 1933 has chosen the theme PROGRESS 1n order that the reader may travel over those years of growth and visualize the changes from which we have pros pered From cover to cover there IS a story of our present school life contrasted with the ldentical occasions embodied 1n the setting of yesterday With shadows of a past era developed into the modern life of the present the staff artists have illus trated a most VlX1d tale-once in the old red school house now in a great brlck structure and forever under a shelter of steady ldvancement the Hyde Park High School stands firm in its enviable record of progress . . .
