Drama of the Class of 1951 Act I FRESHMAN SYNOPSIS Fourteen talented players orgamzed the Troupe of 1951 of the Hyannls High School an the fall of 1947 electxng the followmg offxcers Junior Herr president Barbara Evert v1ce president Jlm McCray secretary treasurer and Mxss Dora Waterman sponsor The cast also mcluded Lois Carson Georgla Dubry Esther Varner Pat Varner Phyllis Warner Donald Collins Therldean Wrxght John Martm, Learoy Wrxght and two members, Janet Jones and Pearletta Crossley who left us to Jom troupes ln Alhance and Whxtman respectwely Our fzrst ordeal was an off1c1al try out to determine our talents After an hour of hxgh pressured tlnnkxng our mtellxgence quotlents were measured We were then gxven our mztxatlon at a Fxrst N1ghter performance under the management of the Troupe of 1948 It was an xmpromptu but a hlghly success ful productzon featurmg a mock weddmg baby feedxng sk1t and hshmg act on Mam Street We were saddened by the sudden death of one of our lxvehest and happxest members, Phylhs Warner on February 5 We spent a great deal of our tune and energy on Pep Club and basket ball durmg the wmter months One of our members was gwen a star role Jlm McCray was appomted as student manager of the Longhorn Basketball Team We very faithfully journeyed to games xn all directions fmally makmg Blg Txme at the State Tourney rn Lincoln One of our members Donald Collms earned h1s letter H' that year Act II SOPI-IOMORE SYNOPSIS There were eleven members of the troupe present at the fzrst rehearsal of our second year s trainmg As directors we elected .hm McCray president Junror Herr vice president Barbara Evert secretary treasurer and Mrs Kreamer sponsor At mud year Jumor Herr assumed the presidency and Mrs Tedd of Lmcoln became our sponsor We dxscovered that no one felt partxcularly interested m a Sophomore so we lost our self consciousness and began to act more nonchalant and sophxstlcated That year we learned to do our c1v1c duty and held an electron Gomg contrary to natxonal trends we elected N GOP ff Dewey as president January 1949 BLIZZARD Operatxons Hay Lxft and Snow Plow Everyone helped dig out NNN Tune for our troupe to gwe a socxal whlrl arrived Mr Earl Monahan showed colored hlms of ranchxng operations m the Sandhxlls and we played games and danced untnl time for refreshments The combxned troupes went into an all out effort to wxn the Regxonal Basketball Tourney from St Agnes at Allxance after we won the Dxstnct Meet at Seneca Success was ours and agam we had an ufnportant engagement to compete ln the State Tourney at Lmcoln There we unxtedly stood agamst Ulysses but lost The last hxt of the season was the pxcmc and softball tournament held at Monahans ranch the day precedmg summer vacatzon Act Ill JUNIOR SYNOPSIS Georgla Dubry deserted us for a larger troupe at St Agnes Academy Jo Pmkerman jomed our troupe for szx weeks but most of the year there were only exght members as Therldean and Learoy Wrxght moved to Ashby We elected the followmg dxrectors Barbara Evert president John Martin vxce presldent Pat Varner secretary, Junior Herr treasurer and Mlss Wink sponsor We began studyxng more advanced scrxpts that season We had never felt the need of much money hereto x,,,:, fore but havmg attamed acclalm as amateurs we decided to use our talents to fi acqunre a higher fxnancxal standxng We selected a three act comedy Rxme and ---nz' Rxme Agam and began rehearsals nn earnest We borrowed two character ac - G..
