young american dale boger is selected forty-third young american Student Council President, Dale Boger, became the for- ty-third student to be named Young American. Two alumni established the oldest and most prestigious award at HHS, Charles W. Oswald, Class of 1885, and A. Lewis Oswald, Class of 1917. A board of judges, composed of a representative group of the community, teachers and students, select Young American. Young American is sponsored by Charles A. Oswald, Class of 1946, John C. Oswald, Class of 1947, and William A. Mitchell, Class of 1942, law partner of the late A. Lewis Oswald. A gold loving cup is presented to the winner and S300 if the Young American attends The University of Kansas, Kansas State University or Hutchinson Communi- ty Junior College, and S150 if another college is selected. As a senior, Dale served as Student Council President and was a member of the Allagaroo Staff, AFS, IRC, Per- rill Club and Hi-Y. He attended Boy's State and was a Ju- nior Rotarian.
