.jf- Kids say the darn'dest things! might be Mr. Knauer's thoughts as he responds with mixed emotions to a students comment during an early morning class discussion. cleclicaiee stajjf selects personable english teacher as 1962 dI6Cl'Z'CCll66 Perched precariously on his stool in room A-200, Mr. Del Knauer imparts to his stu- dents his love of literature and zeal for learn- ing. His vitality doesn't end in the class- roomg it bubbles over into Briny Birds and the Midnight Oil Burners, clubs of which he is sponsor. Mr. Knauer can be a friend to the students as well as a teacher, because the years have not made him forget what it is to be young. Although he sympathizes with the students, he does not 'give away good grades. He is not content with mediocrity and requires quality work. His students attack his assign- ments with enthusiasm, for under him Eng- lish becomes meaningful and its study be- comes a pleasure. It is with great pride that the 1962 Alla- garoo staff dedicates the fruit of its year's labor to Mr. Del Knauer.
