Don Brada Wins Youn America Don Brada, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Duane Brada, Won the honor ol being selected the 1957 Young Anieriean lry a representative Committee of students, teaeliers, and liusi- nessmen. The Young :ixneriean award was started in 1929 hy Charles YV. Oswald, a Hutchin- son businessman, and is now awarded hy A. Lewis Oswald. Class of l9l7. and Wfil- liam I.. Mitehell, Class of l042. The Young American reeeives a S5100 cash award and a silver loving eup. pre- sented at the annual Awards Assembly. Don's high sehool career was one of out- standing grades and participation in activi- ties. Ile sang in the Choir. played in the dance hand, was a member of lli-Y, Val- ence Cluh, Briny Birds and ll-Clulm. He took part in speeell aetivities. was a mein- lier of Student Council and the Allagaroo staff. ln the sports field he lettered two years in footlvall, playing guard. He also took part in track and tennis. This year he was selected lay the senior homeroom teachers as a Junior Rotarian. Taking the SL1IHINC1'l'iCld examinations at Vllichita in Felnrnary, Don lreearne a Surn- inerfield finalist.
