Presidenl Tom Cairns and Vice Presidenl Clarl: Wesley were elecled on a single ballol from lhe I949 senior class lasl spring. Jim Graves, iunior, was elecled secrelary and Gene Weslerhaus, senior, H was named lreasurer. The laller lwo were chosen from lhe Co 'l ' unci membership al lhe lirsl meeling ol lhe year. A maior problem lhe Council worlred on was lhe safely problem around lhe scho l W o. ilh Weslerhaus as chairman and Mary Helen Robinson, senior. Cara Jean Nelson and Bob Wildin, juniors, as members ol lhe commillee a safely campaign was accomplished. Pedeslrian lanes were painled. poslers were displayed. and wilh lhe cooperalion ol lhe police deparlmenl lhe lraflic problem was cleared up considerably. Some of lhe rouline mallers lhal lhe Council is responsible lor included planning lhe loolball queen eleclion and crowning, providing all-school dances aller games, and selling lhe dale for Taclry day.
