lb MISS ELMA HAMILL English Modeling projects made for their English classes are Mary Waddell and Margaret Purvis with their Lady Mac- beths and Dale Hankins with his Eliza- bethan theater. www' For the past three years the English department of Hutchinson high school has been working under the newly revised language arts curriculum which has as its goal improvement in writing, speaking. reading, and listening. By the time the student finishes high school he has conquered many gross errors in the use of the English language, for daily he has had opportunities to perfect his English-by reading the great classics ot literature, by drilling on grammar rules and by writing themes. It the student is interested, he may get further practice by taking joumalism, speech, debate, or dramatics. Spelling, too, has come in for its share of cor- rection this year with a new remedial course added to aid those students who have always found spell- ing their worst bugbear.
