JiLLAQA1aoo Ji True M th Saturn gave to his son Jupiter, the eentrol of heavens and earth. Jupiter wished to do great things. Ile gave to each of the gods and goddesses some worthy task to perform. To Lina. goddess of the art of weaving. he gave in- structions to produce a woven product of rare beauty and usefulness. NVith the aid of Saga, the goddess of history. she making just such an article. They began with beautiful, glossy, silky, green threads. These threads banded together called themselves Freshmen. The ones woven lengthwise called themselves Liberty, and those erosswise, Sherman. Some of the Shermanites, who were officers, made the design. Extra frills were furnished by happy gather- ings called Hparties. t Lina, after working nine months on this work of art, worked three months on plain material, whieh, contrasted with the nine months work made it show great results. At the end of three months. Saga informed Lina that they must begin an- other nine months task. The new square was called Iligh School. Saga col- lected suggestions from which Lina wove more lovely cloth. Three threads made themselves conspicuous at the place called elections. As they were so important they were given the names Keith Armstrong, Margaret Slavens and Charlotte Dana. The whole group of squares now called themselves Sophomores. As the weaving proceeded the threads grouped themselves into t'elubs,', but later joined together to form the principal design. a party. A second three months work began. Again the previous nine months' work loomed up as wonderful. History repeats itself and Saga again told Lina to begin her work on the third panel of the tapestry. The first netables who appeared among the threads were ltlmerson Carey, Jr., who acted as leader, Thelma Shuler, who as- sisted him, and Carl Bloom, who kept count of the various little cords. As this panel was probably the most important., one grand design had to be inserted. This was a gathering at which all the little threads invited their friends who were a trifle older. Lina thought the design so elaborate that she called it Junior-Senior Banquet. Her own little threads were the Juniors who also had a gathering for themselves only. The tapestry here showed brilliant colors which were unmistakeably symbols of pleasure. Only three more months will Lina have to work before she begins the last panel which will bring out even more glorious effects. XVhen the stitches of' graduation have been east off, llina will have a product of which Jupiter will justly be proud. So wonderful will the impression that it will leave be, that the Tapestry of Education and Sol should be and will be synonyms, as both pro- duee the very greatest of results, that of enlightening the world. -Edith Shedd. - HHS1922 lForty twoj
