' rf-Fr ' . f W fi The Fantasiks Performed on a simple platform with merely suggested props and costumes, the music department and Lockman players presented 'The Fantasiks' in November. The Fantasiks is a fantasy in the tradition of Volaire with a point of view and a touch of satire in the generally lovingly handed wit. Based on the play 'Les Romantiques' by Ed- mond Tostand, author of'Cyrano de Begerac', the style of the Fantastiks is that of the com- media dell'arte of the 16th century. The Fan- tastiks, written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, is the longest running off-Broadway show ever. Opened in September 1961, it's still running. Some of the songs in the production are 'Soon lt's Gonna Flain', 'They Were You' and 'Try to Rememberk , The cast included David Holland as El Gallo, John Scott as Matt, Barbara Madison as Louisa, Korey Maldonado as Huckabee, and Kevin Avery as Bellomy. ' Other cast members were Jon Jaggers as Mortimer, Kevin Magnus as Henry, and Jay Fredrick as The Mute. The play was directed by Bill Brewer and the music was directed by Leon Burke. Queen and king a n n o u n c e d after week of activities The Hutchinson-Pratt basketball game was the scene for the crowning of the 1987 winter homecoming couple. Jenna Heller and Pat Allen, representing Dragon Dolls, were crowned Queen and King on February 14. Winter homecoming week was kicked off February 12 with a Valentine's Day dance with the theme, Shoot Through the Heart. Music for the dance was provided by the band, Beatles. A pep assembly followed on February 13 when the six candidate couples were introduc- ed to the student body. The finalists, representing various organiza- tions, were: Susan lsrael and Allen Clouse, Stu- dent Commissiong Kim Gwinner and Jeff Ftolfs, HCC Christian Fellowshipg Terri Montford and Robert Sterneker, Cheerleadersg Cheri Bronson and Don Henderson, Dorm Communityg Kim Lobmeyer and Scott Gray, Phi Theta Kappa.
