Student Commission candidates Deb Stanton and Tim Troyer were named Homecoming royalty Feb. 16 at the halftime of the men's basket- ball game between the Blue Dragons and the Seward County . The pair was selected from a slate of six pairs of finalists. The original selection of candidates were selected by 11 HCC clubs. Nominees selected included Jackie Gehring and Drew Armstrong who represented Hutchinson Christian Fellowship. Kathy Kelly and Jim Dunlap represented the Lockman Players. Candidates elected to represent the Blue Dragon Broadcasters were LaMonna Hahn and Chris Stewart. Sophomores Wanda Patton and Tony Sommers represented the Black Cultural Society. Representing the Home Ec. Club were Donetta Androes and Chris Wilson. Phi Theta Kappa was represented by Tami Thiessen and Brad Wright. Candidates to represent 4-H and Flodeo were Becky Zenor and Chris Biehler. Flex Gale and Alma Fleyes were selected to represent OEA. Mathew Pitch and Seanna Fletchall were the candidates nominated by the Dragon Dolls. Penny Lane and Tony Lask represented the cheerleaders. Preceding the election, a pep rally was held at 10 a.m. in Lockman Auditorium. The Homecoming ceremony, at which the royalty was announced was at half-time of the men's basketball game. From 9:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. the Homecoming dance was held in Lockman Auditorium. 3. Candidates line up on stage for the annual homecoming assembly while Denise Viers narrates the festivities. 4. Johnny Anderson proudly displays his newly won S100 bill after successfully shooting a free throw from mid-court. 5. Ready on the defense is Randy Stange, sophomore. 6. The games which were played during the fling were: The Sack Race was an individual event testing the contestants kangaroo abilities. The object ol the Egg Toss was to toss an egg to your partner without dropping it. The winner was the team that tossed it the farther than anyone else. The Tug-O- War pit freshman against sophomore in a contest of brute strength. The Balloon Race was a relay contest in which each person ran with a balloon to the end of the course, put the balloon on a chair, and sat on it until the balloon burst. The Orange Pass tested two contestants' ability to get across the finish line without losing an orange which they jointly held under their chins. The Cracker Whistle Con- test determined the person who could whistle the loudest after eating a mouthful of crackers. Contestants inthe Banana Eating Contest saw who could eat the most bananas in an allotted time without embarassing results. Contestants in the Bed Race entered beds on wheels and pushed them the duration of the course. A Volleyball tour- nament was organized for any team that wanted to participate. The Spring SM'A'S'H began its festivities at 1:00 p.m. on the front grounds of the Student Union. Monster cookies were given away as prizes for the events. A picnic dinner was also organized. The Spring Fling dance was held in the Lockman Hall Auditorium from 9:00 p.m. to mid- night. The dejay for the dance was the Source Nance Tyrelll. 3. The Distributive Education instructor, Ken Siefkes gets ready for the big splash during the sponge toss.
