Dormitory. n. a residence hall providing room for individ- uals or for groups usually without private baths. QWebster's New Collegiate Dictionaryj Dorm. n. a student hotel with separate rooms containing two small beds, two desks and chairs, a medicine chest, a wastebas- ket, and, usually, a roommate. fresident definitionj True, these things are found in a dormitory. But also found are new friends, a big change in atmosphere, and little privacy. Once the friendships have been established, the change in atmosphere and the privacy problems are a little easier to overcome. Even getting caught in the middle of a panty raid, getting startled back to reality by a douse of cold water in the shower, or opening a vaseline door isn,t so bad if there's someone around to join in the laughter. And if a resident ever gets bored, there's always a card game going on in the lounge, a good show on TV, laundry to be done, or a bag of popcorn to be popped in the basement. Or .... there's always studying to be done. Houseparents Eileen and Roy Feldman in Kent Hall, the women's dorm, and housemother Vivian Owens in Elland Hall, the men's dorm, are usually on hand to offer suggestions or help with problems. Also on hand are plenty of friends and a roommate who can double the joys and divide the sorrows of the highs and lows of college life. The dormitory experience - good or otherwise - provides a student with memories and experiences never to be forgot- ten. Campus Lifef26 if r ,. , Halstead freshman Dianne Will finds it difficult to concentrate on her studies as she takes a breather in her dorm room. Dave Williams, Liberal freshman, and Pete Shauers, Beeler freshman, enjoy a mind boggling card game in Elland Hall.

Students Follow Current Trends Looking back in one's past seems to be something practiced by everyone. As each year comes to a close, it leaves behind its memories of what you did, wore and how you acted. Everyone always seems to enjoy looking back on how it used to be Most Memorable Movies Movies take up a lot of students' time and adds a bit of entertainment to everyday life. In early days the price of a movie was as low as fifty centsg today the price is 52.75. This year's most memorable movies were: Animal House Every Which Way But Loose Halloween Magic Foul Play The China Syndrome The Champ Coma Heaven Can Wait Superman Concerts You Couldn't Miss This year, several popular rock groups and musicians per- formed around the area and many HCC students went to great extents with skipping classes and humming rides just to get to them. Tickets selling for six or seven dollars often doubled or tripled in value by the time they reached the hands of a determined fan through resale. All sorts of sacrifices were made in order to see: Boston Billy Joel Doobie Brothers The Moody Blues Kenny Rodgers Waylon Jennings Steve Martin Statler Brothers Campus Life f 28 Spring Fling Mike Propp and Debbie Stegman get ready to try for a cake award in one of the many big events at the annual HCC Spring Fling. World Series '78 The 1978 World Series took on a special meaning since many of the players such as New York Yankee pitcher, Bob Welch and second baseman Brian Doyle were so young and inexperienced. The Yankees looked ragged through the first two games of the series as the Los Angeles Dodgers routed them both games. Just as the Dodgers began to relax, Reggie Jackson caught fire and the Yankees came storming back. Before the Dodgers could recover, the Yankees took four straight games and the world title back to New York. Super Bowl XIII Super Bowl XIII left a vivid picture with the power of the Pittsburg Steelers linemen facing the confident Dallas Cow- boys. Through each quarter the excitement was undying with Pittsburg taking huge leads at a time and Dallas matching them every point until the last few minutes of the game. The Steelers stole the Super Bowl 35 to 31.
