Student Involvement lnspires Growth Because of increasing enrollment, the main building on campus was completed in 1939. Through a bond issue, the first building was built and named after C.M. Lockman, the first dean of the school. Lockman Hall consisted of 20 classrooms, several offices, an auditorium, a library and an administration unit. In 1950, a student recreation center, the Dragon Inn, was escavated from beneath part of Lockman Hall. The city built the Sports Arena in 1952 for community use, J uco used it for Physical Education programs. Because of the need for more classrooms in 1960, Juco was allowed to use the Naval Reserve Training Center. The Student Union, with a cafeteria, was added to the campus in 1963. Also in that same year, a dormitory for both men and women was built. Then, in 1967 a separate dorm was built for the men and the first dorm became the women's. During 1966-67, the John F.
