Mrs. Barbara Hoglund and Mr. Carl Skoch deal with the guidance provi- sions at Hutchinson Community Junior College. The two-part program in- cludes the counseling services of special offices and people and the advisory services of the entire faculty. Guidance service is offered to every student to assist him in making a choice of courses and a choice of action to fulfill his immediate needs and to help him progress toward his longer-range goals. The college assists students in securing part-time employment and invites graduates to use the service of the college in securing full-time employment. Mrs. Betty Brooks, along with Mr. Carl Skoch, directs Student Employment and Placement. Their office maintains daily contact with the Kansas Em- ployment Service. A recent addition to the campus is a first aid station. The station is located in the south part ofthe administration building. Mrs. Gertrude Platz, a regis- tered nurse, is on hand to provide the students and faculty medical aid. Mrs. Gertrude Platz Mr. Carl Skoch O 15

Personnel Aid Student Provided Any Necessary Guidance Many fine people aid the college student in every aspect of guidance that may be needed. Mr. James Stringer is on hand to help to guide the student in his schooling. He also is in charge of summer school. Mr. George Koon serves as director of the Industrial Education Department. In addi- tion, Mr. Koon organizes and directs the Evening College. Mr. Deane Banker serves as assistant director of Industrial Education. On hand to help the college women in all phases of coun- seling and guidance is dean of women, Miss Ruby Munzer. College men may turn to Mr. M. B. Sam', Butterfield, dean of men, for assistance. Mr. Butterfield also is director of student affairs, housing and athletics. Sam Butterfield displays the l970 Sterling Bowl trophy before putting it in the trophy case. They also provide introductory courses in account- ing, economics, and other areas directly related to the busi- ness world. After this preparation, the students are able to continue study toward a degree in a senior college in business admin- istration, accounting or secondary teaching. It also termi- nates their training and secures employment in business firms offering managerial or accounting opportunities. Mr. Mendenhall processes a set of class cards.
