FOR ARD One small step for man and one giant leap for man- kind, spoke Neil Armstrong as he took man's first step onto the moon. Upon entering college, we students also take a small step for man, and upon graduation we take a giant leap for mankind. With each step through the long trek of higher education we take a small step for man and for America. We take a step away from protective, guiding hands into a life of our own. A life where we must accept responsibilites. A life full of hardships . . . problems . . . decisions , . . If we stumble over these footfalls, many feel our defeat. If we let the pollution that has seeped into America's learn- ing institutions decay our lives, it will infect the lives of our children and contaminate America for generations to come. Rather than let student unrest, apathy, cries for anti-es- tablishment policies, and protests bar us from a better America, we can make use of the schools and universities to pursue the knowledge that the establishment can provide us. Rather than protest against the mistakes our parents and grandparents have made, we must profit from them.
