PHI TH ETA KAPPA NE C o 0 Phi Theta Kappa is the national scholastic honorary fraternity for junior colleges. Members elected are sopho- mores with at least a 3.6 grade point average, who have carried an average load of 15 credit hours. Sophomores who were elected in the fall with the highest averages be- came the officers. This yearls officers are Lenora Gabel, president, Dennis Mitchell, vice-president, Cecilia Myers, secretary, Orville Guy Ward, treasurer, Susan Sickmon, council member, and Dennis Duft, reporter. Other sophomores were elected in the spring. Last year the group totaled thirteen, and this year there are eleven members. New members are honored at banquets and in the awards assembly. The junior college provides membership fees and emblems and arrange social affairs for the initiations. X' fx xf es..,a,f ., y X Lounging in the Union before a meeting are Inez Frost and Arless Eilerts, the club's sponsors. LOCKMAN PLAYERS W with PM Mike Moran, as the Lion, and jerry Battey, as Androcles, pose during rehearsals. Gladiators, Rocky Johnson and Vernon Reeves, practice dueling for the play. The drama department arrayed themselves with thongs, sandals, and togas to present Androcles and the Lion by George Bernard Shaw on March 5, 6, and 7. The cast consisted of seven women and sixteen men, plus numer- ous others behind the scenes. The unusual lion was portrayed by Mike Moran. The lead part of Androcles was played by jerry Battey, and his wife, Megeara by Kathie Pulver. Captain of the Roman army was Eric Struxness and Lavina was Betty Bockhaus. Ferrovius was portrayed by Larry McMullen, Spintho, by Roger Heppenstall and Caesar by Rodger Woodruff. In other roles were Stacy Morris, editor, Steve Ceide- burg, keeper, Clayton Chapman, Centurion, Dave Wil- kens, Lentulus, Donna Henry, Mettia, Vernon Reeves, secutor, Rocky Johnson, Retiarius, and Lenny Gabel, Lois Regehr and Kim Moran as Christian women. Guards were Frank Stanfield and Charles Fry, heralds, Mary and Jean Moran. Caesar, Rodger Woodriff and the Lion meet on the marble steps of Rome. H
