Alpha Dafa 'Hi- Alpha Iota has tried to keep up the high standards of past years. These aims are to create, maintain, and extend throughout the school and community, high standards of Christian character. Last year we presented an assembly program in school which was a great success. We want to express our gratitude to our capable advisor, Mr. Reily, Director of the Boys' Department of the Michigan Ave. Y.M.C.A. and to all others who have helped make this a successful year. Technical high school. Over the years, the bowling club has had repeated applications and acceptance of ad- ditional teams. There are three players on each team plus an alternate. This year we have twenty four active competing teams with hopes for an increase in the near future. Mr. Hoeffler, our faculty advisor, has encouraged the clubs development, good sportsmanship, and need- less to say, good bowling. Mr. Hoeffler devotes his own time after school for individual as well as group instruction. We hope soon to be able to organize definite plans for interscholastic competition. However this proiect involves a little red tape and a lot of hard work. All in all, we feel that the bowling club has not only provided for the development of new friendships, but it also has the advantage of teaching determination through play. Joining the National Rifle Association as a Junior Rifle Club this past year, was the greatest advance- ment in the Rifle Club's history. This affiliation enabled the club to receive six Rem- ington 5l3-T Rangemaster target rifles from the Director of Civilian Marksmanship, Department of the Army. This year, the Rifle Club has formed its first rifle team for competition in the Niagara Frontier Junior Rifle League, thus giving the boys a chance to compete with other teams. Scores fired in the matches may be submitted for ratings lPro-Marksman, Marksman, Marksman First Class, Sharpshooter, 9 Sharpshooter bars, Expert Rifleman, and Distinguished Riflemanl from the NRA. Full credit for the initiation of these various move- ments goes to the Club's very able faculty advisor, Mr. William Freer, who is also a registered NRA Instructor.
