TDe6ate ncietcl The Debate Team is an organization designed to win interscholastic debates. The Tech team consists of sig speakers and two alternates and is led by our hard- working Coach, Dr. Charles W. Stein. This year is a critical one. Tech has won the New York University Cup, signifying city-wide public school debate suprem- acy, in the two preceding years. lf we win this symbol of debate prowess this year, we will gain permanent possession of it. The proposition for the debates is: Resolved that direct United States economic aid to individual countries should be limited to technical assist- ance and disaster relief. Our Opponents this year will be Bennett and South Park-ATech's Affirmative team will go to South Park and the Negative team will be at Tech. The Affirmative team consists of: Patrick Kester, Brian Stephan, Richard Fey and Richard Killian. The Negative team consists of: Richard Thome, Andrew Lesniak, Leslie Foschio and Jack Maison. Timekeepers are John Yager and Charles Thomas. ln closing, we wish to thank Dr. Charles W. Stein, our Coach, for his complete devotion to the Cause, ,Vx Z Q ltr 4 Z I VWZZWQ OM 0 C766icezs ,z President Richard J. Thome Vice President Patrick J. Kester Secretary Leslie G. Beginning with the services to the Kiwanis club of Buffalo in their annual Block of Dimes, our Key Club had a very active year. Every Friday night, members of our club donate their time at the Cerebral Palsy Association. On each Wednesday, two representatives of our club are the guests of our parent Kiwanis Club at their luncheon meeting. Here our members have the oppor- tunity to hear qualified speakers and meet various successful businessmen. This year we sponsored two motorcades. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who participated in these events. During the January Examination Week, our members donated their time at the March of Dimes Head- quarters preparing kits for the Mothers March on Polio. On March 7th, our club will be a benefit group at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Pop Concert, Porgy and Bess. We plan to give a gift to the school and provide money, for our Club's delegates, to the State Convention in Niagara Falls and the International Convention in Chicago. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who assisted us this year, especially, Dr. Martin H. Kuehn, Mr. Edmund Clow, Mr. George Hickey and Miss Ruth Jantz of the Kiwanis Club of Buffalo. if fl s x I f 1' as X f ff?--'Q 4 ff, l 4' - 7 Wg. . .g.,:' -,. l 'g lv KE , gn f cLyB g ' fl n .' ,- zffwef f llllllf it . f :n?:..-.:..-.' .-.,., K K 67 F. The only membership re- quirement is that you have an interest in the game. The Chess Championship, which gives city-wide su- premacy is won by the school with the best record. With each match the members are gaining experi- ence and confidence which will be of great help to them next year. So far they have participated in 4 matches and won 3. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our faculty advisor, Mr. Edmund J. Clow, for his invaluable assistance and guidance. Also we would like to thank Mrs. Davis for the use of the Library.
