l ROAST ,, 2 f 74 5 A66 Qfficezs Solicitation of advertisements for the l958 Tech- tonian began late in December. This left a working time of only two months to meet the deadline. For this proiect about 50 students offered their services. The selling of advertisements is a job that requires initiative, tact and a pleasant appearance. The job is by no means as glamorous as sports. However, the experience gained in the endeavor is invaluable. This year as usual, the Techtonian Yearbook had patron name listings. With the wonderful co-opera- tion shown by the class presidents, student council representatives and the student body, the proiect was highly successful. It has been proposed that all members engaged in the undertaking meet and elect officers for next year's campaign in an effort to top this year's mark. This year the student council has, as before, formed many projects to help make Tech a better school. There are cafeteria monitors on duty to insure good order. We have also formed a monitoring system for winter sports to keep order in the halls during basket- ball games and swimming meets. Again this year our student council is a member of the National Association of Student Councils to insure o steady influx of new ideas for the coming year. Our Council has co-oper- ated with the Inter-High School Student Council in pro- moting the better dress program and better conduct recommendations. Plans for the coming term are varied. A variety show and dance are in the planning and our moni- toring systems will be continued. At this time we should like to express our gratitude to Mr. Kreiner for his untiring efforts that enable us to function properly at all times. Oggum ewspapez 5:4156 Editor Gerald Soltis Co-Editor Edward Nagel Treasurer Bohdan Kriak 4-5- A school publication serves as a medium for an ac- ceptable voicing of students' opinion, while it also provides a means for advertising and promoting ex- tracurricular events. Here at Tech, the editors and staff of 'The Engineer' have striven to accomplish both of these aims by providing a complete coverage of school happenings combined delightfully with spiced gossip, iokes, and social features. With an ambitious staff and o willing student body, the school paper, 1957-l958, should be built into a powerful, influen- tial, and enlightening source of student communica- tion. The aims of the 'Engineer' are twofold- to pro- vide the school with an opportunity to develop the iournalistic talents of its students and to keep the en- tire school informed as to its functions. The entire staff of the 'Engineer' extends its thanks to our faculty advisor, Mr. Pelosi, whose assistance has made the publication possible. FV?
