On Thursday evening October 16, the band led the snake dancers to the Fireman's Hall where the crowning of the Queen, June Soldner, took place. That was the first time a bonfire and snake dance was held at the football field but the setting was really perfect and even the omission of lights and the loud speakers did not dampen the spirits of the crowd. Cheerleaders kept things rolling until the fire burned down and the crowd slowly and reluctantly drifted down the hill. Another Homecoming Bonfire was history. Friday evening was a night of dancing for the high school students in the recreation room. This year the party was a student affarir directed by the Student Council. Queen June Soldner and her escort and King Ronald Krahn reigned over a gay, carefree party. Blue jeans were taboo and pretty dresses and suits were Kina Ronald Krahn and Queen June Soldner Kenneth Nehls, Erick Zellmer, Herbert Ninmann.

Since they lost one of the top-flight men David Radloff because of a bad knee injury the team was a bit handicapped. Team records show that the hillmen went down to defeat but they went down fighting. Another season ended with a homecoming game and a grand rally with high spirits.
