Under the watchful eye of Mrs. Mahr, they purchased tropical and goldfish, and also Japanese and red snails for the aquarium. They have been very successful in breed- ing guppies and swordfish. Gold fish include Black Moors, Comets, Shubernkins, and Japanese Telescope fish. The entire school seems interested in the project. The biology lab is a favorite stopping place in the morning. Since they lost one of the top-flight men David Radloff because of a bad knee injury the team was a bit handicapped. On Thursday evening October 16, the band led the snake dancers to the Fireman's Hall where the crowning of the Queen, June Soldner, took place. That was the first time a bonfire and snake dance was held at the football field but the setting was really perfect and even the omission of lights and the loud speakers did not dampen the spirits of the crowd. Cheerleaders kept things rolling until the fire burned down and the crowd slowly and reluctantly drifted down the hill. Another Homecoming Bonfire was history. Friday evening was a night of dancing for the high school students in the recreation room. This year the party was a student affarir directed by the Student Council. Queen June Soldner and her escort and King Ronald Krahn reigned over a gay, carefree party. Hustisford is a musical town and a great deal of the interest in music may be traced to the participation of almost all the high school students in the mixed chorus. Just before lunch, three days a week, practically all other school activity ceases and Mr. Johnson puts this large group through its paces. Boys and girls seem to enjoy this hour and the resulting honors earned in the music contests show that it isn't all fun. A lot of hard work is done in that short period at the end of the morning. One thing is sure, Mr. J. has instilled a love of singing and an appreciation of music in the entire student body. We can be justly proud of our chorus. Here are the librarians, those busy girls better known as the nBookwormsn. They make our library a happy place where students may relax and enjoy books and magazines galore. There is a casual but orderly air about it which probably accounts for the popularity of the place. Circulation records show that each year the library is used more and more. The Student Goverment idea has been the topic of conversation in school ever since the Student Council and the social studies class conducted a campaign to see whether or not students could assume this responsibility. Sentiment for and against the idea ran high but after everyone considered the idea from all angles, the students filled out a questionnaire. Results showed that the majority of the students favored a simplified student control of certain school activities. Now the ground work has been laid. No doubt other student councils will go on from here. ' .-:1:5:1if:f:5:' . .0 f iifififziv - .. :TWEW ...'.-mv!
