Basketball Hurst Cagers Become New Threat During the past few years the Hurricane has been unfortunate as far as basketball, for many of the other teams were too strong or the breaks were against them. Now. after several years of careful rebuild- ing. Mr. Nook has finally brought forth a team that has the charac- teristics of those teams which Hurst had in the past. Bobby Forys, a left-hander with a swell hook-shot, has seemed to be the spark of the team as he has been top man in points thus far. Paul Kozusko's and Bill Hoover's neat ball handling along with jim Bennetts ability to set llp plays have resulted in many a tally. The boys on the first team are all seniors and though they are graduating this year. Hurst will have another top team next year in Bobby Resnik. Ilieh Yurick, Andy Lipko, Bill Misiak. and many other boys that are on the second team this year. If these bovs follow in the footsteps of this yearis team, they will 'stand a verv good chance to win the championship. Paul Kozusko- I erg played the position of guard for three years. Ile was always there to prevent the oppos- ing team from scoring. Irnnes Bennett- lint played the forward position and was one of our high seorers. Ile was eo-eaptain and always managed to keep the opposing team guessing. Joseph Frmrys- Bobby was our other eo-captain. Ile delighted the fans with his extraordinary ability to make baskets. lVaIfer Iolmson- Bud oeeupied the position of eenter or forward. Ile always gave his team mates the needed encouragement. llfillimn Hoover- Bill held down the position of guard. His ability and readiness always helped the team on to vietorv. 7 3

Uhrin, Takitch, Koznsko, j., VVitck, Cibulas, Kozusko, P., Rosky, Rakaczky Hurst Nine Capture Championship Under the brilliant coaching of Mr. Nock, the Hurricane sensations again won the 1951 VV .P.I.A.L. Section XIV baseball championship. The Nockmen displayed their array of talent sparked by the right-handed pitching ace, John Patula, teamed with Bobby F orys. a brilliant left-hand hurler. Though the schedule was tough, each member of the team knew his assignment and played his position with amazing strength to help defeat many worthy opponents. The Hurricane fought against the finest pitchers, fielders, and outfielders in the county to attain a record of nine wins and one loss. The team, though losing six players, fought hard to further their reputation of clean sportsmanship. Hurst, again this year, will suffer many losses through graduation, but will undoubtedly turn out an- other challenging team to others in the league. 9 T5
