Each year Mr. Christner explains the use of hammers, planes and saws to new members. In striving for a degree of advancement in the handling of tools and machinery, each member must learn how to use all the equipment the shop presents. Some of the equipment in the shop is circular saws, a jig saw, metal and wood lathes, sanders, a jointer and a drill press. Senior Chamber of Commerce The Senior Chamber of Commerce is an organization sponsored by Mr. Freed. The purpose of this club is to acquaint the students with commercial work, so that they will better understand business situations and be able to obtain em- ployment in some business office. Each year the club sponsors a dance or skating party. They also sell Christmas cards to raise funds for the purchase of a new machine for the business department. It is composed of freshman and sophomore students interested in business training. YVorking with other members. it is hoped that they will become more interested and bet- ter acquainted with the possibilities andibenefits of the business field. The club also helps the Senior Chamber of Commerce to purchase many items for the business training department of our school under Mrs. Iones's supervision. 53

Some of the highlights of their calendar year involves a trip to the Farm Show at Harrisburg and a trip to the Pennsylvania State College. A banquet is held for the fathers of the F. F. A. members. Each year a banquet is also held to welcome the fresh- man members. Nearly every high school and college which offers a course in argriculture has a Future Farmers of America chap- ter. To make money the boys participate in various kinds of activities. The F. F. A. is sponsored by Mr. Simon. 55
