Spanish Club A social organization which acquaints its members with the customs of the Latin American countries is the Spanish Club. OfHC6l'S preside over the monthly meetings under the capable direction of Miss Thompson. After business matters are discussed a social program of singing and playing games is held at the meet- ings. The customs of the French people are studied and many interesting re- ports are given by the club members. The members learn a lot about the customs and lives of the French. Miss Thompson, the director of this club, has an amusing time teaching the students to speak and translate French. The studies are hard but the time's well spent. 52

Miss Hacker is in charge of the sewing department while Miss Calone may be found among pots and pans in the kitchen. Besides the regular classes, the girls at- tended the Farm Show at Harrisburg, sponsored a dance, sold Christmas cards, and presented a fashion parade to the rest of the students in order that they might exhibit their coats, suits, and modern dresses. Senior Chamber of Commerce The Senior Chamber of Commerce is an organization sponsored by Mr. Freed. The purpose of this club is to acquaint the students with commercial work, so that they will better understand business situations and be able to obtain em- ployment in some business office. Each year the club sponsors a dance or skating party. They also sell Christmas cards to raise funds for the purchase of a new machine for the business department. The club also helps the Senior Chamber of Commerce to purchase many items for the business training department of our school under Mrs. Iones's supervision. 53
