The National Honor Society is under the excel- lent direction of Miss Fisher. It is one of the out- standing organizations of our school. Annual services are held each spring. so that the junior and senior students who have acquired leader- ship, scholarship. character, and who have given their services to the school may be received by the society. The N.H.S. encourages students to strive for higher scholastic and moral standards. Under the capable direction of Mr. Silvis the National Forensic League completed a success- ful vear. For the students who show a keen apt- ness in arguing, there is the debating club. Excellent opportunities are oifered to sharpen the reasoning powers of the members. Members attend interscholastic speech tournaments and participate in debates. Interested persons may participate at these tou1'naments. All types of speeches including extemporaneous, dramatic declamation, humorous declamation. original oration. oratorical declamation and poetrv are given. The Libra ry Club First Row: Carcar, P., Porch, N., Keck. D., King, R., King, C., Firment, Second Row: Green, A., Evon, G., Noss, F., Cibulas, A., Pfiefer, E., Bash, The Library Club elects new members each year. Their duty consists of checking books in and out and to help the students unearth their reference assignments. These cheerful, efficient librarians have officers who preside over the monthly meetings. A skating party or dance is held each Veill' to raise money to buy pins for the departing senior members. Monthly club dues also help to pay for these pins. At the close of the year a party is held to honor the senior members. The membership is composed only of four- year mathematics pupils who try to break down the barriers, largely artificial, which prevent many intelligent people from conquering the beautiful simplicity and ordered sequence of mathematical processes, Many meetings are held throughout the school term to achieve a clear knowledge of the essentials of algebra, geometry. trigonometry and the slide rule.
