DMINISTRATION LLOYD F. RUMBAUGH B. A., M. Ed., D. Ed. WILLIAM D. MULLIN B. S., M. S., M. Ed., D. Ed. A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OF MT. PLEASANT TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT The members of the Class of 1950 have built this annual around the thought that their high school days make up the best years of their lives. They have learned to live with one another as they par- ticipated in the regular class-room activities, pub- lished the school newspaper and the school annual, operated the candy booth, played in the band, sang in the glee club, presented class plays and school assemblies, took part in forensics and either played on or encou-raged the different athletic teams. They have been loyal to their clubs, their teams, and their school. They have been active citizens in a school democracy. Seniors, as you leave what you have termed the best years of your lives, take with you your ideas of democracy in action, your lack of prejudice, your high ideals, your optimism, and your appreciation of the satisfaction to be gained from worthwhile accomplishments. A MESSAGE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL The best years of our lives are the present year, 1950, and the years to come. To quote Brown- ing: Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be, the last of life for which the first was made. We live for the present and the present year should be the best with each succeeding year better than the previous one. Youth is the best time physically, middle age, intellectually, and old age, spiritually. No hard and fast rule can hold because people react differently to life. lt is true that memories linger long after the actual living of the present has ended. As a challenge to you, Seniors, may each and every one live for something each day of every year. May each day be filled with living experiences with thoughts, words, and deeds. Thus character will be developed, personality will be enlarged, and the tuning of hearts and minds for the enrichment and the refinement of human understanding will be achieved. Then, human lives will grow and become great cathedrals of human understanding. We must look forward, upward, and onward, ever trusting and confident that the Best is yet to be, the last of life for which the first was made.
