ass at fstorgg Throughout our short stay at Huron, to be sure we were never the largest 1n number, but we certa1nly have left our mark 1D 1ts renowned hallowed d en Freshmen Only halls We entered Huron 1D 1950, eleven scared an gre three of our members had begun school at Huron 1D the pr1mary grade These be1ng Ruth Frank, James Schrock, and Harry E1senmann Throughout our long cl1mb upward we ga1ned and lost class members many tlmes When we entered h1gh school, Kathleen Eads, Nola Ibbotson, DeWayne Poggem1l1er, W1ll1am S hrader James Crablll and Kenneth Schnedler were there to cont1nue the c adventure w1th us Our sponsor was Mrs Pollack and J1m Schrock was our 'chlef execut1ve' Our class was left w1th a b1g dent however, when dur1ng the second semester of our Freshman year, Joyce and Donna Walker and Kenneth Schnedler left our ranks to venture out 1nto other places Under the sponsorsh1p of M1ss W1ttemann and our pres1dent Ruth Frank our Sophomore year ran reasonably smooth By th1s t1me we had lost James Crab1ll to more exc1t1ng hor1zons, but we welcomed Rlchard Fuller to our class Our JUD1Or year was packed full of aCt1V1ty 'Starllght was the theme of the banquet we gave the Sen1ors Games and danclng were enjoyed later at the 'H1tch1ng Post 1n Burl1ngton How s Your Hokumbedo was the t1tle of our Jun1or play under the d1rect1on of Mrs McNe1ll, our Sponsor Even though we seemed to run 1nto our full share of trouble, what w1th the mumps and accldents preva1l1ng, we presented an 9XC1t1Dg and 1ntr1g1ng play Loule Anderson from Monmouth Ill1no1s arr1ved Just 1D t1me to take part 1n our play 1D place of R1chard Fuller who was hurt ln an auto acc1dent Our presldent was James Schrock We chose the approprlate motto Small In Number But M1ghty In Strength We re Sen1ors at last We started work on our annual by sell1ng ads durlng the flrst few weeks of school We chose R1chard Fuller as our presldent and Harry E1senmann as our annual ed1tor We spent one entlre day 1n Burl1ngton when we had our p1ctures taken J1m Schrock was h1gh po1nt scorer on our v1ctor1ous boys basketball team th1s season and Harry Elsemann was a flrst squad member also In baseball they were 11keW1Se equally act1ve Ruth Frank has played 4 years of glrls basketball and will certalnly be m1ssed when the f1rst game of the 1954 55 season rolls around Nola Ibbotson has been h1gh school solo1st for 4 years and also a member of the g1r1S tr1o, quartet and the school chorus Nola, J1m Schrock B111 Schrader and DeWayne Poggem1ller have helped to regulate school pO11C16S as members of the Student Counc1l Kathleen Eads served as the very capable off1ce ass1stant th1s past year As our annual goes to press we st1ll have our play, class tr1p, and graduat1on to look forward to We look back over our years at Huron w1th fond and pleasant memor1es, but we know that b1gger and better thlngs st1ll l1e ahead for us 1n future l1fe X . 1 1 1 I - - I ' s , . C amor frop any Th1s belng the 21st century even fly1ng saucers have been mechan1zed, and used for da1ly transportat1on and trlps from planet to planet So come w1th us to see what former students of Huron H1gh School are do1ng 1D the unlverse We leave the earth w1th a Jolt As we soar upward 1nto space we pass the clouds and we not1ce a commot1on on cloud NINE As we proceed caut1ously there IS a bl1nd1ng flash 1D our eyes After we recover from shock we f1nd lt 1S Lou1s Anderson, w1th a new pa1r of glasses What 1S dO1Dgf Sell1ng kn1ck knacks at a football gamef As we proceed we spy a group of fly1ng saucers com1ng toward us We to m1Sb them But due to the slow react1on of our spacesh1p there 1S an un avoldable CO1l1S1OD Our remalns land on planet Juplter W1th our radar s1gnals we contact the nearest wrecker statlon Wh1le we are wa1t1ng for th1s we look for the dr1ver of the other shlp He comes 11mp1n out and we see lt s Harry E1senmann He tells us he 1S the earths entry 1n the Planetary Speed Race of Space As we search the planet for fly1ng saucers we run across an old fr1end DeWayne Poggem1ller, who asks us what our troubles are We tell h1m of our accldent and h1s 1mmed1ate reply was, Your search has ended, SIDCG I am manager of a saucer garage DeWayne tells us of a flylng saucer tour1ng sh1p 1n whlch we can go s1ght see1ng wh1le he repa1rs our fly1ng saucer We take h1s adv1se to heart and go w1th the tour Be1ng so exc1ted by the b1rds eye v1ew of Jup1ter we have forgotten our hunger but the p1lot of the tOUT1Ug sh1p br1ngs lt 1Dt0 real1ty by mentlon OUI' SWeI'Ve the planet earth We stop there for a m1d afternoon snack Wh1Ch cons1sted of a m1lky way malt, star dust sandw1ches, and b1g d1pper of m0onsh1ne Seelng we were new to the planet the manager h1mself del1vered the food We recogn1ze h1m as J1m Schrock ASk1Dg J1m how he happened to get started up here, on Juplter as a manager of a restaurant he repl1ed I r1cochetted Leav1ng the Fly Inn we return to f1nd our space shlp ready so we can return to the earth We are more 1nterested w1th the scenery on the outs1de of the sh1p so we turn on the telev1s1on Watch1ng and l1sten1ng to the latest news, we f1nd that B111 Schrader 1S one of the Ten Most Wanted Men for smuggl1ng a g1rl from the planet Mars to Pluto We guess he was trylng to get away from lt all Remember1ng that th1s lS elect1on year we hope to d1a1 a channel gettxng the lnaugural address of the Pres1dent What' Are we see1ng stra1ghtf Is that a woman g1v1ng the lnaugural address Not only are we surprlsed at Seelng a woman but aston1shed to TeCOgD1Ze her as Kathleen Eads, a former student of Huron H1gh By her speech we understand how she ach1eved her pos1t1on Chang1ng channels because of 1nterference we see a womans wrestl1ng match taklng place We watch very 1nterest1ngly and when the bout 1S over the women go to the1r respectlve corners As the camerman takes a close up we take a Second look at the manager to f1nd lt 1S R1chard Fuller Later we f1nd out that the woman wrestler 1S h1s w1fe The next program 1S a detect1ve story called Un1verse Prlvate Eye The narrator 1S a woman, who seems to be looklng for one of the Ten Most Wanted Men Perhaps lt 1S B111 Schrader We f1nd women are taklng over men s Jobs very eas11y now We can t be11eve our eyes The lady 13 none other than Nola Ibbotson, a graduate of 11 l ol Huron Turnlng off the telev1s1on, we see the earth C0m1ng 1DtO v1ew As we land and come back to real1ty we w1sh each and every Sen1or the best of luck and prosper1ty 1n whatever VOCat1OD they choose J .
