Scmor Pcrsonalltlcs JOAN VN IEGAND On August 10 1934 a little baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Joe Wiegand in Quincy Illinois They named her Joan Ruth Now she is 5 feet 5 inches tall weighs 116 pounds has brown eyes and light brown hair Joan spends most of her school time typing which IS her favorite subject this year It seems there is a popular song on the radio now which means a lot to Joan That is Shrimp Boats She says the Pilgrims came to the United States on the Mayflower and the Migets came later by Shrimp Boats W here else would they have come from? Joan received her nickname Jo from the students at Huron When it comes to eating Jo likes T Bone steak and strawberry sholtcake Her hobby is playing the piano She plays for chorus and sextet this year Of course everyone has a pet peeve especially Joan Her pet peeve is someone who pmches her Her ideal boy xs about 6 feet tall dark halr blue eyes well built a good personah ty and must like music Joan plans to go to Burlington Junior College after graduation and become a typist so she can enter 1nto secretarial work JERRY WOOD Keith Jerry Wood better known as Jerry was born in Burlington Iowa December Z1 1934 1-hs parents are Mr and Mrs Grover Wood Jerry s greatest ambition is to become a rancher on a big ranch some place out his favorite type of girl must be 5 5 tall weigh 110 pounds have dark hair like sports and be able to ride a horse A general d1scr1pt1on of Jerry IS as follows He has brown hair gray eyes weight 151 pounds ano is 6 1 tall His cho1ce in the line of food 15 partly respons1b1e for his physical physique lV'ashed potatoes with wild duck and dressing is one of his favorites However he can down a half dozen hamburgers wlthout batting an eye and at the same time be poking nxckles 1nto a Juke box playmg The World is Waiting for The Sunrise by Les Paul and Mary Ford VM oody is a nickname that has been tacked on him during his stay at Huron Jerry s favorite sports are basketball and football while his favorite color is red which happens to be one of the school colors Orchid is his favor-1te flower and he says he wants orchids at his wedding Business arithxnetxc rates first as Jerry s best liked subject His pet peeve is being blamed for things he didn t do O 0 O J J in Wyoming. Class Hlstory Nxne green and bewxldered students entered the Freshrnan class on August 1948 at Huron Consolxdated School They were Paul E1senmann Donald Rettlg Donald Fenton Ronald Hadler Eleanor Gerst Joan Vuegand Patsy Ballard Jerry Wood and Henry Otto Our sponsor for thxs year was Mrs Murrell Weston Donald Fenton was our class presxdent At the end of the fxrst perlod we lost our f1rst member Patsy Ballard At the begmmng of our second year we gaxned another student Norma Maxfleld who aga1n left us at the end of the f1rst semester Our presmdent was Ronald Hadler and our sponsor was Monroe Kelly The Junxors entered the thxrd year wxth another classmate Bonnie Schwartz However Donald Rettxg left us late 1n the fall Ve presented Take It Easy whxch was dlrected by Mrs Dorxs Pollock and were hosts at the Junxor Sennor Banquet at the Burlmgton Hotel Our class sponsor was Mrs Esther McNe1ll Our class offxcers were President Joan Vvxegano Vxce Presxdent Bonnle Schwartz Secretary Treasurer Eleanor Gerst and Reporter Henry Otto Ronald Hadler and Donald Fenton part1c1pated xn both basketball and baseball Fmally after eleven years of rackxng the bram we exght Senmrs have staggered mto our last year at Huron We have had our good and bad moments any members th1s year Our bxggest project was the pubhshmg of our annual along wlth our class play Our offxcers were res1dent Ronald Hadler V1ce Presment Donalo Fenton Secretary Treasurer Paul Exsenmann and Reporter Bonn1e Schwartz Vx alden Smxth was our class sponsor The basketball teams were fa1rly successful thxs year w1th the boys wxnnmg second place xn the County Tournament anc. the gxrls second place xn the Sectgonal Tournament Those who partl 1patecl were Eleanor Gerst Jerry vv ood Paul Elsenmann Donald Fenton and Ronald Hadler Last fall the baseball teanx went to second place 1n the Sectxonal Tournament at Medxapohs after defeatmg Mornmg Sun and Sperry then loslng to Oakv1lle Those part1c1pat1ng were Jerry Wood Paul E1senmann Donald Fenton and Ronald Hadler Joan Wxegand was 'a nuernber of the sextet and p1ano accompan1st for g1rls quartet As we look back over the years we th1nk our stay at Huron has been a success ful one and only hope that the remamxng years of our l1ves w1ll be the sarue C but for the most part the good outnumbered the bad.
