CLASS HISTORY Startrng down the long and seemingly endless road of our educauon twelve years ago were twenty one of our now forty erght senrors A llttle eager perhaps afrard of what lay ahead, were Barbara Batch Patsy Brckley Ann Bostater Lmda Ftsk, Florence Frye Vrrgrnta Griggs Carol Haggerty Andy Fedele T' :mas Holland J 1m Hartley Rolland Jackson, Alan Meyers Carol Katser Donna Klern Lelta Krock Delrght Lewrs Patrlcra Mactoce, Carolyn Moore Margaret Pre wrtt Nancy Rhodes and M1r1am Stemmetz Under the strrct rnstructron of Mrs Perhamus and Mrs Holmes we soon learned the routrne of school In our second year of school under t,he guldance of M1ss Chrlstman and Mrss Campbell we added to our class Carl Cherry and Beverly Lrppus Here the gtrls drscovered that rt was a great sport beatmg up the boys Trudgmg onward we next found ourselves ID the th1rd grade under the dtrec tron of Mrs Stone and M1ss Brown Thts year the grrls began changmg thelr attrtude toward the boys they began chasrng them tnstead of beaung them Thrs year we added Bob Keefe and Leroy Brownell and collected only one grrl Joyce Underkofler all the way from Phrladelphta Pa Then we entered the fourth grade wtth one secuon under Mrs Hamer s frrm hand and the other sectron under Mrs Holzhauer The new add1t1ons this year were Gary Everett Norma Harrts Margaret Stout Delores Florlo and Bruce Carhsle Thrs year we could notrce the formauon of the Everett Cherry Hartley Holland and Jackson gang Inc Rollmg along and gatherrng a l1tt1e brt of knowledge here and there we en tered Mrss Lynch s and Mrs Hoffman s fifth grade where we f1rst came ln con tact with the exouc study and practrce of the great subject ART Joxmng us thrs year were three entrrely drfferent rndrvlduals Loulse Katser shy llttle Carol Sprankle and B111 Tex Harmon wrth all hrs delrghtful drawrngs Joyce Underkofler and Tom Holland brought honor to our class rn the stxth grade by rergnmg as Queen and Krug of the May Day Thrs year Sharon Navarre was added to our class The gtrls rn Mtss Pnce s all grrl secuon enjoyed her tnterestmg talks on Mexrco At the end of the hall ID the gtrls shower room the boys all m one sectron under Mr Klem s supervrsron certamly deserved thelr legendary darly spanktngs We next found ourselves tn the seventh grade laughmg at the crazy antrcs of Coach Frank Sowecke The years certaxnly had passed qtuckly We added only one student to our Junror htgh roster that being Ann Hamrlton Th1s year we also staged that great operetta THE WHITE GYPSY under the drrec tron of ftery Mrss Brodbeck ' I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I ' . 0 I p 1 Q . . , n I I I I - . . , p . In the eighth grade we found ourselves going to school in half day ses sions but moving tnto the new Junior high school in the spring of the year A new student thrs year was Lamar Burkett and for part of this year we had a cute, but bashful new teacher named Ray Miller The newly elected Junror high cheerleaders Delores Florlo, Pattr Macioce, and Joyce Under kofler little realized that they would also be senior high cheerleaders in a couple of years At the end of thrs year our proud class recerved their long awaited Jumor high diplomas Reaching what we thought the high spot of our school career, we entered high school as freshmen however we soon learned that we weren t very rmportant to the upperclassmen Our homeroom teachers were Miss Wygant Miss Chandler, and Mrss Wrndau The two new additions were Margaret Skeeter Bateman and Judy Amber Connors In our Sophomore year with Mr Roger Moore and Mr Grossman we en gaged in a number of class parties, featuring the favored game volleyball Also there was a Christmas decoratron COI1tCSt ofcourse Mr MOOFC S h0U1C room won and were the guests of honor at the part given by Mr Grossman s homeroom This year we received Ronald Romeo Zellner and Caryl Olm stead the Jumor year with the orderrng and arrival of our class rings selling at the games, giving our class play State Fair to make money for that wonderful Washrngton trip and the long awaited prom wrth the mysterious oriental theme Who can ever forget that trip with Mr Arthur Moore Mr Roger Moore, Kay Ackerman and Miss Salzman as sponsors'P Thrs year we welcomed Sherry Ferguson Gene Wrrght Carole Hamler and Jean Herm rich At long last we have reached the final step of our high school edu cation Here Mr Perhamus has taken over last honors rn sponsoring the class of 56 Byron Allman Susan Roberts and James Robinson have com pleted our class of forty eight Some of the highlights of our senior year that will long be remembered are Susan Roberts being chosen Homecomlng Queen capable Leroy Brownell leading our class the presentation of Old Doc going to New York dancing at the prom, and at last attending the sad but wonderful Baccalaureate and Commencement Yes at the beginning it seemed like a long Journey but now we loo backward and wonder how rt passed so quickly We now leave Huron High School and we are thankful for all the wonderful times we have had together Louise Kaiser Carol Haggerty I . . . . . .
